This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) go properly deep on the comparison trap, & why it gets so much louder in the summer. Sophie deletes Instagram the second she goes on holiday, because a sun lounger plus a scroll turns into "should I be running a birthday sale, should I have an ads funnel making me £1,000 a day while I'm away", & the spiral is easier to remove than to manage.

What we get into is that we're never comparing like for like.

We're holding our full messy reality up against someone else's highlight, & the thing that stings tells you what you actually want.

For Sophie it's money & financial security. For Ruthie it's time, & the people who seem to take the whole summer off with ease. Same trap, completely different wound, & knowing which one is yours changes what you do with it.

In this episode:

  • Why the comparison spikes in summer, & the difference between being triggered by money & being triggered by time
  • The "proof it's possible" reframe (via Lucy Sheridan) for the accounts that wind you up
  • Why the thing that triggers you is usually pointing at what you actually want
  • How the goalposts moving, someone you look up to stepping back, quietly makes you doubt your own goals
  • Re-curating a feed that's slowly stopped serving you, & why nobody tells the hard story until it's safely behind them

New episodes every Tuesday.
