- The shoe was dry and the gravel around the transformer showed no footprints or drag marks; there had been no rain since April 5.
- Both shoes were recovered in the same area; the left was on the metal casing four feet off the ground and the right was wedged behind the transformer casing.
- Payroll records showed $412 in ghost hours over fourteen months routed to a shell account, which Marilyn had confronted maintenance coordinator Mark Fleming about in March 1943.
