  • How To Halve Your Audience With Controversial Topics
    2024/06/11

Shameless Animals takes on the most difficult and divisive topics in the world -- this episode features Luke's new substack, called The Luke Stickels Substack, as he sorts through how the global media has started to pivot in its reporting of the Israel attacks against the Palestinian people. The aim, it seems, is to pick a subject every time that will chop our audience in half.

The hope is that those who disagree on a given stance can appreciate the thorough research and evidence for each controversial claim, as both this podcast and the Substack encourage people to think for themselves, to rise above the corporate gaslighting and war propaganda, to see how positions are assembled and varied on the global stage. Shameless Animals aims to offer practical tools for its audience to make sense of the world, with ever more awareness for the finger on the scale of public opinion.

This is The Production Notes episode for The Luke Stickels Substack. Go check it out and read for yourself: https://lukestickels.substack.com. If you like how this goes, please share with a friend. Share your opinion by emailing Luke at ShamelessAnimalsMedia at gmail dot com.

  • Everyday drawing and indie comics with Dr Darren Fisher
    2024/03/17

Your top-fifteen podcast formerly known as The Lever is back as Shameless Animals, as we catalogue our collective flawed attempts to be human. We are still exploring pressure points of the modern world -- the song isn't as good yet but our sense of purpose is as strong as ever.

In this episode Dr Darren Fisher is with us, leading us through his own creative practice and research into how drawing can make us happier, more calm, more creative and more able to take on life's challenges. So the spirit of The Lever is alive and well.

This time we have a Youtube channel, where Darren takes us through some time lapse animations of his drawing practice -- fascinating stuff. And we talk through a bunch of associated creative practice matters. You can view the full episode here.

Keep up with Darren's own Youtube channel here, and a full account of his past and present creative projects on his website here.

Tell us about your own creative practice and how it helps you at shamelessanimalsmedia@gmail.com, and we might mention you in a future episode.

  • Season 2 Episode 5 – Disqualified Knowledge and Any Hope
    2023/10/02

We're very lucky to have one of Luke's true broadcasting gurus Judy Shelley, stop by for an epic conversation about controversial disqualified knowledges that emerge in chaotic times, under appropriately wild conditions in Melbourne's southern suburbs. Find out how things are just as wild up in the Byron Shire!

While these knowledges may be judged on their respective merits, find out how every moment is an opportunity to become more unified, to protect and stand beside people we never quite understand for a more just world, or even a world we can bear to survive in.

Judy is a veteran broadcaster with her flagship show "Multicultural Nation" a mainstay on the Byron Shire's Bay FM 99.9.

Wherever you reside, be part of a community interested in diversity, justice and unique storytelling at Multicultural Nation's facebook page here.

If you can forgive the poor sound quality for this episode, this is an instant classic that we'll revisit in future episodes.

The Lever is back for Season 2! This week we're joined by Season 1 OG: musician, creator and educator Nick, who joins Luke to discuss the plight of musicians and artists in the global Corona shutdown, heterodox responses from unexpected quarters of the Anglosphere, and the potential for a "great unmasking" that exposes the national media, politicians, our own bad votes, and how we sure love the arts but prefer not to pay for it. UBI, the neo-liberal bipartisan consensus, welfare, work and creativity are all up for grabs within.

  • Season 1 Episode 5 – What Have The Romans Ever Done For/To Us?
    2018/10/15

Aaaaand, we're BACK. In this new episode, Ben takes us down the Roman roads of Western civilisation, via The Ramsay Centre's inability to find a host university. We explore how progressives are riddled with contradiction, and how Tony Abbott is personally responsible for the awkward position this Course of Western Civilisation finds itself in.

This visual diary was too busy for a cover image, but we very much wanted to share it with you.
