Episode 2: Forgiveness When You’re Still Hurt

In this episode of Learning the Light, we’re continuing the Real Life Christianity series with a real and honest conversation about forgiveness — especially when the hurt is still there.

Forgiveness can sound beautiful until you’re the one who has to walk it out. It’s hard when the apology never came, when the wound still feels fresh, or when you’re trying to move forward but your heart is still carrying the weight of what happened. In this episode, we talk about what forgiveness really means, what it doesn’t mean, and how God can help us forgive without pretending the pain didn’t happen.

Using Ephesians 4:32, we’re reminded that God calls us to forgive because He first forgave us through Christ. But forgiveness doesn’t mean ignoring what happened, removing boundaries, or allowing someone continued access to hurt you. Forgiveness is about releasing bitterness, surrendering the weight to God, and allowing Him to heal what still hurts.

We’ll talk about why forgiveness can feel unfair, how unforgiveness can affect our peace, why boundaries are still biblical and wise, and how Jesus is our greatest example of forgiveness — even in the middle of pain. This episode also includes practical steps for forgiving when you don’t feel ready, including being honest with God, asking Him for help, releasing the need to get even, setting healthy boundaries, and continuing to bring your heart back to Him.

If you’re struggling to forgive someone, still waiting for an apology, or trying to heal from something that hurt you deeply, this episode is a reminder that you’re not alone. Forgiveness may be a process, but God is patient with you in it.

Main Scripture: Ephesians 4:32

In this episode, we talk about: forgiveness, healing, boundaries, bitterness, surrender, emotional wounds, honoring God with your heart, and letting Him help you move forward.
