Our feature interview is with Chase Joynt, the co-writer and director of THE NEST, which is having its Vancouver premiere on Sept 21 at the 2025 Vancouver Queer Film Festival. Decolonial writer Julietta Singh (The Breaks) teams up with acclaimed filmmaker Chase Joynt (Framing Agnes, No Ordinary Man) to co-direct a genre-defying cross-community portrait that challenges the settler colonial stories of belonging we’ve been taught.
The guys chat about relationships and get to know Aaron! Aaron is the author of This City Is a Minefield (Signal 8 Press), a collection of memoir and personal essays about growing up gay and Asian in Vancouver, and the children’s picture book, The Broken Heart, published by Rocky Pond Books
