  • EP #13: Dental Myths And Daily Mistakes
    2026/06/30

You can do a lot “right” with dental care and still slowly damage your teeth, and one of the biggest examples is brushing at the wrong time. We get honest and practical with an Ask Me Anything format, starting with Alex’s path into dentistry and the mindset that guides everything he does: fix small problems before they become big ones. That theme shows up in every question, from daily routines to the expensive repairs people wish they avoided.

We break down the dental myths that won’t die, including why brushing immediately after eating can wear down enamel in an acidic mouth and why waiting about 30 minutes can make your routine safer and more effective. We also talk about gum bleeding, the “pink in the sink” warning, and why it’s not something you should normalize. If you care about preventive dentistry, gum health, and protecting your health span, this part matters. Then we get into the financial side: why ignoring a missing tooth can trigger drifting, bite collapse, fractures, and a chain reaction that turns one problem into several.

You’ll also hear our takes on teeth whitening, from store-bought whitening strips to professional whitening, plus why charcoal toothpaste can be overly abrasive and even leave teeth looking gray. We compare sugar to acidic drinks, explain why constant sipping is brutal for enamel, and call out the social media veneer culture that pushes unrealistic smile expectations. We end with a rapid-fire round of toothbrush, floss, mouthwash, tongue scraping, and everyday habit truth.

If this helped, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a dental reset, and leave a review so more people can find straightforward oral health advice. What question should we tackle next?

  • EP #11: The Dental Domino Effect
    2026/04/02

A tooth extraction can feel like the finish line: the pain stops, you get back to your schedule, and you don’t want to think about it again. But what we see clinically is the opposite. When one tooth goes missing, the mouth adapts, and those adaptations can quietly reshape your bite, your jaw comfort, and even your future treatment options. We call it the domino effect, and it’s one of the most misunderstood parts of oral health.

We walk through a case study of a busy patient who ignores intermittent pain, ends up needing an emergency removal, and then unknowingly starts a chain reaction. We unpack what’s happening “under the hood” after tooth loss: jawbone resorption (bone loss), the way neighboring teeth drift and tip into the space, and why angled forces can lead to cracks, gum recession, food trapping, and more dental problems. We also talk about why chewing on one side can create muscle imbalance and contribute to TMJ symptoms like clenching, grinding, headaches, and jaw tension.

Then we get practical. We share what to watch for, why socket preservation and a tooth replacement plan matter, and how options like dental implants fit into protecting long-term bite alignment and quality of life. If you’re missing a tooth or you’ve been putting off a fix, this conversation is built to help you ask better questions at your next dental visit. Subscribe, leave a review, share this with a friend, and drop a comment with the dental question you want us to tackle next.
