In the last episode, we learnt about all the victims who were prosecuted in the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. Today I am going to tell you about what happened after the execution of the last group of people accused of practicing Witchcraft. I am going to tell you about the statements made by people who were, back then, considered to be quite educated and respected and the about deconstruction and replacement of the Court of Oyer and Terminer. I am going to tell you about the present-day theories of what could have happened back in 1692 leading to these false accusations and executions and also what the government of Massachusetts did, years later, to memorialise this sad yet important part of Salem’s history.

In the last episode, I gave you guys a brief history about the Salem Witch Trials. Today I am going to introduce you to all the victims who were accused, tried and executed, all in the name of Witchcraft.  

I do want to make it clear that are many people on this list, some with the same first name. I will be talking about them in the order that they were accused and I hope it doesn’t get too confusing. I will try my best to tell each of these victims’ stories in the best way possible. What happened to these men and women was unfair and uncalled for, and the atrocities that they went through need to be openly spoken of.

We now live in a world where we are prosecuted for almost everything. Prosecuted for the color of skin, our caste, our nationality, our religion, even our opinion.

This isn’t a US problem or an India problem. This is a problem that you will find all around the world.

Everyone has their differences, not just in terms of the way they look or where they come from, but also in terms of personalities, hobbies, and interests. Most people are extroverts, some ambiverts and the rest, simple introverts. But aren’t these differences what makes us human?

The most common reason for mass prosecution has undoubtedly been religion. So let’s go back to the mid 17thcentaury. A time when Catholics were at war with Protestants but they found a new common enemy, Witchcraft.

In today’s episode, I’m going to tell you about the infamous Salem Witch Trails, the accusers, the accused, the victims, the legalities, and most importantly the history.
