If you've paid any attention to the news, you know that violence can happen exactly where we are, whether it's in our faith communities or our patrol districts. Discussions of how to best handle issues often skirt around the grittier details that describe what's going on in our society. We don't like to talk about domestic violence, child sexual abuse, drug addiction, or financial fraud.
Those and other crimes are happening in our communities and even in our congregations. We need to have a new mindset when we're thinking about our responsibilities in the realm of church security and community safety. The most important thing we can do is adopt the mindset of a shepherd.
