  • Breaking Colin Hay's Going Somewhere
    2025/12/29

Colin Hay was in one of the biggest groups in the world Men At Work. But it is his solo career that intrigued me the most. Let’s take a listen to the album Going Somewhere, one of my favorite albums of all time, my warm blanket and cup of hot chocolate on those cold and lonely nights.

  • Leaderhouse: Dustin Leader and Matt Budoloski Capture Lightning in a Bottle
    2025/12/22

Matthew Budoloski and Dustin Leader from Leaderhouse join the show for a rich and celebratory dive to discuss the band and it's history. From the earliest days, Matt and Dustin’s connection generated a spark that shaped Leaderhouse’s sound, identity, and approach to music.

We dig into the full origin story:

    • How Matt and Dustin met and how the band formed

    • How Christian and Scott came aboard

    • The “Leaderhouse Five” era — including the brief but memorable involvement of Remy Shand

    • The musical influences and organic evolution of the band’s sound and their ties to the Blue Meanies.

We also highlight the creation of their album, produced by Christian’s father Norm. From Christian's age, D — the sessions captured the authenticity and interplay that defined the group. Dustin’s soundscaping, Matt’s melodic sensibility, and Christian's youthfulness shine throughout.

We also touch on what the members pursued after Leaderhouse:

    • Matt transitioning into Volume

    • Dustin moving on to craft new sonic ideas in Projektor

The conversation expands into the nature of songwriting, the shifts in the music industry, the rediscovery of older music by younger listeners, how kids connect to songs today, and why authenticity continues to matter.

  • Breaking A Little Ain’t Enough by David Lee Roth
    2025/11/24

As part of the Breaking series, Sean talks about David Lee Roth’s 1991 album A Little Ain’t Enough. This one had a lot of importance in Sean’s musical growth, exposing him to the other sides of Jason Becker and properly introducing him to Steve Hunter. While this album may have been during Dave’s decline commercially, it is definitely one of his best albums.

  • Rush Returns, Todd Reacts, and the Great Coffee Filter Mystery
    2025/11/10

Sean and Todd are back in the studio — and things get wild fast. The boys kick off comparing setups between the Trailer Park Boys, Pod of Thunder, and their own ever-evolving Blinshriek Studios.

Then it’s on to the news that’s got every Canadian rocker buzzing: a Rush reunion! Expect giddy excitement, nerdy speculation, and a deep dive into the legacy of all the Alex’s.

Todd gets properly educated on the Yngwie Malmsteen plane incident (complete with fiery retelling), while the gang redefines “cocaine” as “Cocagne” — because why not? There’s a musical intermission with Lifte as the guys break down riffs, 5150 amp setups, and the eternal quest for tone perfection.

But things take a left turn into pure SeanGeek and FastFret territory:

    • Why is one door locked and one not at every store?
    • How many coffee filters does one pot really need, and how does that connect to crabs? (You’ll have to listen.)

To close things out, Todd gives his first-time reactions to a playlist from Skelly Willigogs, featuring:

🎵 Blue King Brown – “Water”

    🎵 G. Love & Special Sauce – “Doin’ Fine” & “Cold Beverages”

🎵 The Cat Empire – “One Four Five”

    🎵 Cake – “The Distance”

    🎵 Soul Coughing – “Lazybones”

🎵 Spot – “Straight Through The Sun’s Head”
