On this week's show, we delve into the mystery of Eli Roth as a film director, producer and general goober who has fallen a$$-backward into a career, and discuss his latest bowl of utter tripe, the AI slop-ridden 'Ice Cream Man'. It's not all terrible news, however. Matt Johnson's excellent bildungsroman of Anthony Bourdain's early life hits Irish cinemas, with Dominic Sessa and his non-iPhone face continuing to shine. We're also discussing 'Reacher', a show I am embarrassed to admit how much I enjoy.

We're back this week with a brand-new episode reviewing 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' which, honestly, is it? Is it really? This is the NINTH standalone 'Spider-Man' movie. Come on now. It's hardly brand new. It's not even new. It's old hat, right? Filled with cobwebs, even? OH HERE WE GO. Anyway, it's a review of that and me going through the eight best movies I've seen so far this year. Not arsed listening through? Well, fine. My number 8 was 'Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie', and my number 4 choice was 'Obsession'. There. That's all you're getting, you cheap bastard. ITHACA OR BUST.

Yes, after a two-week odyssey across everyone else's podcast and the South of France where it was nearly 40 degrees, I have returned home to find my house in disarray and my podcast being supplanted by other suitors. Or something. Whatever. I finally got to see 'The Odyssey' last night in the Irish Film Institute in glorious 70mm and this is my 39-minute glazing of what I saw. It was incredible. A genuine sensory experience of the foundations of storytelling, an indictment of our current world order told through Greek mythology, a whopper of a score by Ludwig Goransson, and just all the BS surrounding it too. Nothing is left out. I covered it all. Get on it.
