  • Childhood obesity: a treat for the adulthood - Dr M. Rydén | The 2026 Digital Learning Journey in Type 2 Diabetes Care: Global Perspectives and Practical Approaches
    2026/03/30
Youth-onset insulin resistance is rising sharply, particularly among girls, Hispanic adolescents, and those with obesity. This early metabolic dysfunction is linked to long-term risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. There is poor education about the serious health complications related to excessive adipose tissue during childhood and adolescence, and their impact on the future health of our children. A call to action is needed to stop the emergency of childhood obesity. This podcast is part of the continuing medical education program entitled “The 2026 Digital Learning Journey in Type 2 Diabetes Care: Global Perspectives and Practical Approaches”, targeting endocrinologists, diabetologists, nurses and obstetricians.

  • Episode 2: Practical tips to defeat insulin resistance and preventing type 2 diabetes: Type 2 diabetes prevention by Professor Osama Hamdy
    2025/11/05
Insulin resistance is a condition characterized by an impaired response of cells to insulin, which causes an initial increasein insulin levels. This hyperinsulinemia can further promote fat storage and inflammation, worsening insulin resistance andresulting in the establishment of a vicious circle which can contribute to the development of conditions like type 2 diabetesand obesity. Breaking this vicious circle is as important as it is difficult. Changes in lifestyle and pharmacotherapy, such asmetformin, have been shown effective to improve insulin resistance and prevent its deleterious condition. This podcast is part of the continuing medical education program entitled “The 2025 Learning Journey in Diabetes: A Case-Based InteractiveEducational Experience”, targeting endocrinologists, diabetologists, nurses and obstetricians.
