Another aspect of the salvation experience is producing fruits of repentance. Seen in Matthew 3:8 John calls out the religious leaders who came to be baptized because they had come to try and blend in. Progressive salvation should cause us to change in behavior, heart, and mindset toward sin. It is this 'proving' that God was looking for when he called the children of Israel out of Egypt in Exodus 20. Another aspect of the salvation experience is having the fear of God. Having this reverent respect for Him is what keeps us from sinning. It should create an attitude where we would rather die than sin or disobey God. All of these components are critical in producing an authentic salvation that will ultimately leads us to becoming like Jesus.
