概要
Saint Patrick's Day honors the life of Saint Patrick, a fifth-century Christian missionary who helped spread Christianity throughout Ireland. Kidnapped as a teenager and enslaved in Ireland, Patrick later escaped, studied for the priesthood, and eventually returned as a missionary. Over time he became known as Ireland’s patron saint, and traditions such as wearing green and displaying the shamrock—said to represent the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost—became part of the celebration. Today the holiday is recognized worldwide as a celebration of Irish heritage, culture, and faith.
