  • Why Jesus Wept Over Jerusalem, and Why It Matters for You | Luke 19:41-48
    2026/08/10

When Jesus approached Jerusalem for the last time, He wept because the people of God's own chosen city couldn't see that their salvation was standing right in front of them. In this sermon from Luke 19:41-48, Pastor Grant shows that the destructions of Jerusalem in 586 BC and AD 70, serve as a warning for the church today.

If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "I'll get serious about faith later," or wondered whether church attendance is really that important, this sermon is an urgent and pastoral call to recognize what's at stake while the window is still open.

  • Take Heed, You Who Think You're Standing — 1 Corinthians 10:1-13
    2026/08/03

We're deep in the green season of the church year — ordinary time, the long stretch between festivals. Growth is supposed to be happening, but growth can breed complacency. In 1 Corinthians 10, St. Paul points to five specific failures of the Israelites in the wilderness and says "these things were written down for you." Their sins — craving what God didn't give them, idolatry, sexual immorality, rejecting Christ, grumbling against leaders — are the same sins that show up in churches today!

The heart of Paul's warning is this: the people who are most at risk are the ones who think they're standing firm. The Israelites had baptism, manna from heaven, water from the rock that was Christ — and they still forfeited everything! But Paul doesn't leave us in despair. God is faithful, and no temptation is beyond what you can endure. The way of escape isn't complicated — it's believing that what God offers is actually better than what sin promises.

  • How to Spot a False Prophet — Matthew 7:15-23
    2026/07/27

Jesus warns that the biggest reason people miss the narrow road to life is that false guides are pointing them the wrong way. In Matthew 7, He says you'll recognize false prophets by their fruits — but the fruit of a prophet isn't good behavior or impressive miracles. It's what they teach about God. This sermon digs into why polished conduct, packed buildings, and even supernatural signs can't be trusted as marks of a true teacher.

Drawing on Jeremiah 23 and several parables from Matthew's Gospel, Pastor Grant unpacks the uncomfortable truth that even people who prophesied, cast out demons, and performed wonders in Jesus' name will hear Him say, "I never knew you." So what does it actually mean to do the will of the Father? The answer has everything to do with repentance, faith, and knowing the real Jesus well enough to spot a counterfeit.

The sermon closes with a practical challenge: every Christian bears the responsibility to test what they hear against God's Word, which means every Christian needs to actually be in God's Word. Several accessible Bible reading strategies are offered to help make that a daily reality.
