概要
Our value of rugged individualism bleeds into all areas of our lives, and mental health is no exception. Mental health is often framed as something you should be able to handle on your own. If you're struggling, it can feel like a personal failure—and if you're doing well, it can feel like something you have to maintain through sheer willpower. But that idea is deeply misleading, if not even dangerous.
In this episode, we explore how our mental and emotional well-being is built and sustained through relationships: from close friendships, to broader community, to professional support, each layer plays a role in helping us regulate, cope, and grow. We break down what research says about connection, why so many people struggle to let others in, and what it actually looks like to both receive and give support in healthy ways. We also talk about how to intentionally build your “team,” especially in a world where connection doesn’t always happen automatically.
