  • Committed to Gathering Together | 8 Commitments Series (Week 5)
    2025/10/26

In this message from River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff McLain explores Hebrews 10:19–25 and the fifth of our eight church commitments—presence and participation through regular gathering. Church isn’t about control, counting, or convincing; it’s about diatribō—letting Christ wear off on us as we regularly gather in community and are formed together for God’s kingdom.

Jeff reminds us that when we meet, we practice our eschatological hope—a preview of the day we will be gathered to Christ. Learn why our commitment to meet together isn’t about metrics but about belonging, encouragement, and transformation.

    About River Corner Church

River Corner Church is a simple community of Jesus followers, rooted in Scripture, prayer, and life together. We are not driven by flash or size, but by a desire to be faithful right here, right now in the place God has planted us. Since 1760, our church has quietly sought to love God and love our neighbors, gathering around the table, caring for one another, and welcoming others into the presence of Christ. Our hope is not to be impressive, but to be surrendered, formed, and active for Jesus in the ordinary rhythms of daily life.

  • The Church We Build Together | 8 Commitments Series (Week 4)
    2025/10/20

On October 19 at River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff McLain continued our “8 Commitments” series with “The Church We Build Together,” drawn from Colossians 3:1–17.

In this message, Pastor Jeff reminded us that the church isn’t something we attend—it’s something we build together. Drawing from Paul’s vision in Colossians, we were challenged to invest who we are—our time, gifts, and hearts—into the church’s worship, community, and mission. When Christ’s peace rules our hearts and His word dwells richly among us, our shared life becomes the overflow of His presence. The church becomes not a business or a program, but a family shaped by love, gratitude, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Committed to A Shared Statement of Faith | 8 Commitments Series (Week 3)
    2025/10/12

On October 12, at River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff continued our “8 Commitments” series with “Committed to A Shared Statement of Faith,” drawn from 1 Timothy 4:1–16.

In this message, Pastor Jeff McLain reminded us that good doctrine keeps us anchored when the waves of culture crash against us. Drawing from Paul’s words to Timothy, we were challenged to “train ourselves to be godly,” recognizing that faith, like fitness, requires practice, discipline, and perseverance. Doctrine is not about winning arguments but about shaping our lives and keeping the church healthy and strong. As a community, we are called to stay rooted in Scripture, accountable to one another, and centered on the teachings of Jesus—so that when the world swells with confusion, we remain grounded in truth and grace.
