President Trump announced yesterday that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by three weeks, following talks in Washington between diplomats from the two nations. The ceasefire extension comes despite Israel and Hezbollah continuing to trade rocket strikes in Southern Lebanon. Trump also stated yesterday that former Navy Secretary John Phelan was fired over disputes regarding shipbuilding policy. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem met with Israeli military authorities after settlers encroached on Church property. Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pizzaballa warned the situation is "deteriorating constantly.” Pope Leo issued a clarifying statement regarding same-sex blessings and rejected German Cardinal Marx’s plan to institute the rituals. The Senate voted 50-48 in the early hours of yesterday morning to advance funding for ICE and border patrol. Secretary of the U.S. Navy John Phelan is leaving his role with the Trump administration, “effective immediately.” Phelan was reportedly “asked to step down.” Despite overnight reports of bombings, news outlets have confirmed that there are no ongoing attacks against Iran, only air defense drills. In a recently published updated end-of-life guidebook, “Now and at the Hour of Our Death,” the Catholic bishops of New York state outlined the Catholic Church’s teaching on assisted suicide as well as what care is morally obligatory or morally optional. Lebanon village officials say Italian forces, not Israeli military, restored the desecrated crucifix. Apparently, the IDF had supplied a smaller crucifix with a different design, but Italy supplied a full-size replacement. A Virginia Judge has blocked the referendum by Democrats, seeking to redistrict the state, believing it to be unconstitutional.

The Department of Justice announced an indictment of the SPLC for fraud and allegedly staging hate crimes. Amazon reinstated the anti-immigration novel, The Camp of the Saints, after widespread condemnation of their book banning from conservative outlets. The state of Tennessee replaced ‘Pride Month’ with ‘Nuclear Family Month’ in the law. The IDF has replaced the crucifix destroyed by one of their soldiers in Lebanon with a new one. There has been no information provided about the ramifications for the soldier who desecrated the original. We do know that an internal military investigation found that several Israeli soldiers were involved in the desecration. President Donald Trump announced just hours before the U.S.-Iran ceasefire expired that he would extend the agreement in order to give the “seriously fractured” Iranian government more time to present a unified proposal. Pope Leo XIV continues his visit to Equatorial Guinea today, the final stop in his apostolic visit to Africa.
