Christians have more access to biblical teaching, books, conferences, and spiritual resources than ever before. Yet many people outside the church have a negative impression of Christianity. This raises an important question: “How can we be so well fed on the things of God and still leave people with such a bitter taste of Christianity?”

Galatians 5 contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit. Paul is not simply giving believers another list of rules to follow. He is describing the character the Holy Spirit produces as we follow Him. Love stands at the beginning of that list because genuine Christian love desires what is best for others, even when we disagree with them.

The fruit of the Spirit is not intended for our benefit alone. Just as natural fruit carries seeds that can produce another harvest, the character God develops in us is meant to reach other people. “The sweetness of the fruit, it is a benefit,” but the seed carries the possibility of multiplication.

Love becomes visible through action. First John 3:16–18 reminds us that Jesus demonstrated His love by laying down His life. Spirit-produced love moves beyond recognizing someone’s suffering to responding to their needs, even when doing so costs us something.

“The fruit is grown in your life, but someone else is supposed to benefit from it.” As we surrender to the Holy Spirit, our lives can become a testimony that leads others to glorify God.

As you reflect on this message this week, consider the following:

1. What you feed is what grows. Are your attitudes and actions reflecting the character of Christ? Where do you need to follow the Holy Spirit more closely?
2. The fruit is growing in your life, but someone else is supposed to benefit from it. Who needs to experience the love, patience, or kindness God is producing in you?
3. Love is willing to act, even when it costs us something. Who needs more than your compassion? What practical step can you take to show them love this week?

In this message, discover how to trust God after disappointment by remembering His faithfulness, bringing hurt into His presence, and receiving courage to follow Him again.

God’s faithfulness gives us reason to move forward after failure. In Deuteronomy 1:29–33, Moses addresses the generation preparing to enter the promised land by recalling their parents’ refusal at Kadesh-barnea. Fear had distorted their understanding of God, even though He had delivered, carried, and guided them. Their failure had consequences, but God continued caring for His people. “They had allowed what they feared would happen to redefine what God had already done.”

A different story begins with a different response. Disappointment can train us to expect catastrophe and overlook evidence of God’s care. We can learn from earlier mistakes, receive wise counsel, and remain attentive to what God is doing now. “What happened before does not have to determine how you respond now.” A familiar fear does not mean we are facing the same situation with the same understanding.

The Father’s presence is a place to bring disappointment honestly. Radical presence means acknowledging what happened, where it left us, and where trusting God became difficult. Holy Spirit helps us view our experiences through God’s faithfulness revealed in Jesus. “Your disappointment does not erase the love God has already demonstrated to you.”

Trust in the Father’s love empowers courageous obedience. Questions and painful emotions can remain while we take the next clear step, supported by prayer and trusted community. Like Israel at the Jordan, we can face a new opportunity knowing that “the God who carried you this far can be trusted with what comes next.”

As you reflect on this message this week, consider the following:

1. Let this be the beginning of a different story. Where have you assumed that a past disappointment determines what will happen next? Consider what you have learned since then and how God has sustained you. What would responding differently look like this week?
2. Bring your disappointment into the Father’s presence. What hurt have you struggled to speak honestly to God about? Consider what that experience taught you to believe about Him. Bring those conclusions into prayer and ask Holy Spirit to help you recognize the Father’s care.
3. Trust the Father enough to take the next step. What has disappointment made you afraid to do? Identify one step God has made clear, and consider who in your community could pray with you and support you as you respond.

In this message, you will learn how to face failure honestly without surrendering your future to it. Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones reveals that faith does not require denial, but it does require leaving the final verdict in God’s hands.

Israel’s defeat was real. Jerusalem had been destroyed, the temple was gone, and the people were scattered. God placed Ezekiel in the middle of the devastation because restoration begins with an honest encounter with what has been lost. “You cannot confront what you refuse to face.” Raw presence means allowing Holy Spirit to show us what is actually happening without hiding behind excuses, fantasy, or false spirituality.

Courageous obedience begins when God’s word becomes greater than our interpretation of the circumstances. Ezekiel could not revive the bones, but he could obey God’s command to speak. “The bones were dead, but God’s word is alive.” Prophetic authority is not permission to declare whatever we desire. It is the courage to hear God clearly and say what He has said.

Resurrection requires more than putting broken pieces back together. The bones formed bodies, but they remained lifeless until God supplied the breath. “God wants you thriving, not just surviving.” Holy Spirit restores our capacity to stand, obey, love, serve, and participate in God’s purpose.

Mary Magdalene encountered the risen Jesus because she was willing to remain near the place of her grief. Facing reality says the bones are dry. Surrender says hope has perished. Courageous obedience says, “Lord God, You Yourself know,” then trusts and obeys what God says next.

As you reflect on this message this week, consider the following:

1. “You cannot confront what you refuse to face.” What do you need to face honestly without accepting it as permanent?
2. Courageous obedience means obeying God without knowing the outcome. What has God asked you to do next?
3. “God wants you thriving, not just surviving.” Where do you need Holy Spirit to breathe new life into you?
