In this podcast, we remember that we have all fallen short. All of us have made mistakes. Even Adam and Eve, who were directly parented by a perfect, all-knowing, all-powerful, infinitely loving God, still rebelled against Him. And they were in a perfect paradise. They had never had any pain or disappointment. Why do we think we will do better than them? Yet, we know that God can redeem and restore what is broken. He will put the pieces back together. What He wants from us is our trust and our surrender, to let Him heal what is broken in our lives and in the lives of our children.

In this episode we talk about how we are the ones Jesus needs to change. When our prodigals become rebellious and hurt us, we are often totally focused on them and all of prayers become about them. But what about our hearts? What does the Lord want to do in us? Is all you want out of life is a relationship with your child or do you want to impact the kingdom of God for all eternity? If you pursue Jesus, you might get both. You may or may not see them return in this life. But if you're only pursuit is your child, you will miss God's will for your life and you might miss out on the relationship with them as well. Sometimes when we pursue them we smother them. Instead, God is asking us to release control and surrender them into His hands.

Francine Perry is the mother of a former transgender, Laura Perry Smalts. Laura lived as a prodigal in rebellion against God for eighteen years, nine of which she lived as transgender. Francine had tried for so long to fix her daughter. But when she came to the end of herself and realized she couldn’t make her change, she had no choice but to look to Jesus. Little did she know, He was waiting there for her. In the midst of her most painful trial, the Lord began to change and transform her. The miracle He brought about in both her and her daughter’s lives has been told the world over.
