Episode Summary: In our third episode of the Minerals Metals Initiative podcast, our host Alberto Rosende speaks with Hugo Schumann, CEO of EverMetal Capital and CEO, USA of Elemental Group, to discuss the critical importance of metals recycling in transforming the critical minerals supply chain and de-risking national security. Schumann noted that current U.S. metal recycling rates are only around 20% to 30%, meaning 70% to 80% of consumed metals are being thrown into landfills, highlighting the urgent need for better collection infrastructure and consumer incentives to build a true circular economy in the U.S. Schumann is addressing this challenge through EverMetal, which is executing a dedicated roll-up strategy to acquire and professionalize U.S. metals recycling companies.
