  • Episode 48: From Rink Chaos to App Creator: Solving Hockey Life One Idea at a Time
    2025/12/29

In this episode of Pucked Up Hockey Mums, Amanda sits down with Kim Harper — a working mom of three who’s living the full hockey-parent grind while building something new inside it.

Kim is a mom to two older daughters and a U11 hockey son, married to a coach who’s involved in both hockey and baseball, which means their family is travelling and juggling sports nearly year-round. By day, Kim works as a manager at an insurance brokerage. By night (and in between practices, games, and travel), she’s been quietly developing an app idea born directly out of hockey life.

That idea? It’s one she’s been sitting on for five years, ever since her son first stepped onto the ice. In this conversation, Kim shares what problem she kept running into as a hockey mom, why she realized the solution didn’t exist yet, and what finally pushed her to stop waiting and go for it — even while still fully in the chaos of youth sports.

Amanda and Kim talk honestly about balancing a demanding career with sports parenting, how hockey families develop unexpected leadership and problem-solving skills, and why hockey mums are uniquely equipped to build tools that actually work for real families.

This episode is for the parent who’s tired, busy, and stretched thin — but also sitting on an idea they can’t shake.

🏒 In This Episode, We Talk About:

    • Raising three kids in a year-round sports household

    • Life as a hockey mom married to a coach

    • Balancing a leadership career with youth sports travel

    • How hockey life reveals broken systems and unmet needs

    • Sitting on an idea for years — and what finally sparks action

    • Building an app while still fully in the hockey grind

    • Why hockey parents make incredible problem solvers and entrepreneurs

    • Modeling confidence, courage, and follow-through for our kids

  • Episode 47: From Baseball to Breakaways - Learning Hockey As A Family
    2025/12/22

In this episode of Pucked Up Hockey Mums, Amanda sits down with Jesse — the voice behind House Full of Hockey — to talk about what it’s really like raising three boys in hockey when you didn’t grow up in the sport at all.

Jesse shares her family’s journey from being a full-on baseball household to navigating early mornings, long drives, travel teams, and the emotional rollercoaster of youth hockey. With two boys playing travel hockey and a third finding his path in the net, hockey has become more than just a sport — it’s become a place of growth, resilience, and family connection.

As a former team manager, Jesse offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the invisible work that keeps youth hockey running — from logistics and communication to the emotional labour parents often carry without recognition. This season also brought new challenges, including tough outcomes and setbacks that forced their family to redefine success beyond the scoreboard.

Jesse opens up about juggling hockey largely solo while her husband works demanding 12-hour day and night shifts, navigating youth sports alongside therapies and additional support needs for her youngest son, and how her background as an educator shapes the way she approaches development, pressure, and confidence in kids.

Through humor, honesty, and real-life moments, Jesse uses social media to normalize the chaos of hockey parenting — reminding families they’re not alone in the grind, the growth, or the learning curve.

This episode is for every parent who’s figuring it out as they go, redefining success, and growing right alongside their kids.

🏒 In This Episode, We Talk About:

    • Entering the hockey world with no prior experience

    • Raising multiple kids in different levels and positions

    • The unseen work of team managers and hockey volunteers

    • Handling disappointment and redefining success in youth sports

    • Solo parenting during hockey season and building systems that wor

All three of her children earned college degrees.
This is the raw, honest, and rewarding side of being a sports mom — the side that doesn’t always make the highlight reel, but absolutely shapes who our kids become.
🔍 What You’ll Hear in This Episode

    2025/11/24

In today’s deeply moving episode, Amanda shares the extraordinary story of Neisha — a sports mom, wife, and woman of faith whose journey has reached hearts as far away as India.

From raising three athletic children to navigating unimaginable loss, Neisha’s life reflects a powerful message: hope, resilience, and faith can carry us through even the darkest chapters.

Married for 23 years, Neisha lost her husband to cancer seven years ago. Before that, she faced every parent’s greatest heartbreak when her middle child, Cameron — a college football player — tragically passed away after a spring break accident. Her stepson was a talented multisport athlete, and her daughter, Cailyn, went on to build her own legacy in college athletics, inspiring the creation of the No Job Undone award still given in her name today.

For 25 years, Neisha has continued showing up for her community, working at the same school her children once attended. Through scholarships, acts of service, and unwavering faith, she continues to honour her children and husband in ways that impact families year after year.

This episode is a reminder of why sports moms deserve a platform: behind every athlete is a woman holding a family together through love, loss, grit, and grace.

    2025/11/03

From trust issues to team bonding, sleep deprivation to livestream meltdowns, it’s the truth no one tells you about the independence phase of hockey parenting.

When your hockey player starts traveling solo, you’re not just missing games — you’re learning to let go.

In this episode of Pucked Up Hockey Mums, Amanda and Tricia dig deep into the emotional and practical rollercoaster of travel hockey without the parents:

    🏒 What you’ll hear:

    • The impact of sleep, diet, and discipline away from home
    • Behaviour and trust: why letting go is harder than lacing up skates
