Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!
Dungeons and Dragons was a huge moment in gaming back in 1974, and its popularity bled into the fledgling video game industry very early on. Today, so much of what we see of in video games is owed to the influence of D&D. Hit points/life bars, levelling up, character statistics, all these elements came from D&D are can be seen in many different video game genres, not just RPGs. I wanted to provide my top 5 list of the best officially licensed D&D video games to date. There are a ton of official D&D video games to choose from, so tune in to hear what my current top 5 are, as well as an added bonus list of top 5 games that are D&D inspired or adjacent.
