  • The Importance of Trust - How to Overcome your Trust Issues
    2025/01/14

Trust is essential for finding peace and rest in a chaotic world. Without it, we carry the burdens of fear, doubt, and uncertainty. And yet, so many people wander this life with little trust, weighed down by life’s struggles and disappointments.

    Psalm 95:

A Daily Reminder One powerful tool for fostering trust in God is Psalm 95, a prayer recited daily by Catholics worldwide. This psalm invites believers to sing praises to the Lord, acknowledging Him as Creator and Shepherd. It’s both a call to worship and a solemn warning against hardening our hearts. The psalm reflects on the Israelites’ rebellion at Meribah and Massah, cautioning against disbelief despite God’s faithfulness.

Psalm 95 serves as a theological and moral reminder to trust God’s guidance and resist the human tendency to reject His leadership. It’s a daily affirmation of God’s greatness and care, urging us to worship Him with reverence and joy, no matter life’s challenges.

    Trust as a Superpower

Jesus exemplifies trust. Through His life and teachings, He invites us to trust in God’s goodness, even in the face of trials. When bad things happen, it’s easy to blame God. Yet, as Dr. Grace reminds us, God is good and desires the best for us. Bad circumstances often stem from sin or the brokenness of the world, not from God’s will. Trusting in His guidance, especially through prayer, helps us navigate life’s difficulties with hope and resilience.

    Biblical Lessons on Trust

Mark 8:11-21 – Despite witnessing miracles like the multiplication of loaves, the apostles struggled to trust Jesus fully. This story reminds us that trust isn’t about seeing miracles; it’s about knowing and relying on God in every moment.

Deuteronomy 6:10-13 – We are called to be childlike in our trust, relying on God alone.

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.” Trusting God means knowing He will supply every need.

Romans 8:28 – “In everything God works for good with those who love Him.” This verse reinforces the idea that God’s plans are always for our ultimate good.

    Closing Reflection

Trust is a superpower that transforms our spiritual lives. It enables us to embrace God’s goodness, even when circumstances seem bleak. Jesus, our guide and Shepherd, shows us how to trust in every situation. By grounding ourselves in prayer, Scripture, and the unwavering belief in God’s love, we can navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence and peace.

  • 3 Important Shortcuts to Find Time for your Wellbeing, your Mind and Soul
    2025/01/04

Do we have enough time in the day to focus on what truly matters? Where does God fit into our busy schedule? These profound questions lie at the heart of this podcast, where we explore the spiritual health and purpose that come from a deep connection with God, Saint Mary, and the Holy Family. In a world filled with distractions, we discuss how to nurture your spirituality and embrace the Holy Spirit in your daily life.

Invisible Needs: Cleansing, Maintenance, and Nourishment Just like our physical bodies and possessions require care, so too do our souls and minds. Ignoring spiritual health can lead to:

    1. **Lack of Peace** – With constant noise from TV, social media, and daily stress, many people struggle to find peace. The absence of quiet reflection is often a sign of imbalance.

    2. **Tension and Worry** – Stress manifests in physical ailments like migraines and high blood pressure. But these are symptoms of deeper spiritual unrest.

    3. **Losing the Moral Compass** – Society normalizes small sins like gossip or dishonesty, eroding our spiritual foundation.

Remedies for Spiritual Health and Connection with the Holy Spirit The path to spiritual wellness begins with intentional actions:

    1. **Forgiveness and Cleansing** – Anger and resentment weigh heavily on the soul. Practicing forgiveness is key to inner peace and spiritual health.

    2. **Daily Prayer** – Set aside even five minutes each day for prayer. Tie prayer to your morning routine for consistency. Create a quiet space, free from distractions, to focus entirely on God.

    3. **Encounter Jesus in the Eucharist** – Attend Mass, go on retreats, or spend time in Adoration. These moments of connection nourish the soul, much like a family dinner nourishes relationships.

  • What’s the deal with Catholics and Mary?
    2024/08/03
Welcome to the Pete Speaks with Grace Podcast, as Deacon Pete and Dr. Grace explore everyday situations and the connection to God. Heaven on Earth as Jesus said is all around us. How do we live in today's world and practice faith that Jesus taught 2000 years ago? This is a very real question, especially for those who seek the answer. The Spiritual but not Religious. The lost Catholic, who simply left and thought about returning but can't quite put a finger on a reason to return. The world wants to separate from Religion and Spirituality, it's so evident. Yet, God will not let this happen. He loves you and wants you to live your best life possible as He taught us through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Today’s episode is a particularly celestial celebration as we zero in on Mary, the mother of Jesus—an epicenter of maternal might with a resume that could make even the most accomplished resume-writer weep with envy. So buckle up, whether you are a daily communicant or just a curious Catholic, because we’re about to embark on a rollercoaster ride through the divine and the downright human sides of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. First up, Pete and Grace talk about Mary as a quintessential human mom. Mary would have experienced the thrills of motherhood just like all earthly Moms. As it says in the Book of Luke, “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). So, just like every mom who has ever been forced to listen to the same story for the umpteenth time, Mary had her share of ‘ponderings’ about her very special bundle of joy, Jesus. We know Mary and Joseph had real parent moments, for example when Jesus seemed lost in the caravan returning home from Jeruselum. Mary, worried like any Mom would be, was relieved to find Jesus in the temple. And let’s not forget Mary’s role as the Mother of God—quite the title, if you ask us! Imagine receiving a visit from an angel, as Mary did: “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28). If someone told you that you were going to become the earthly mom of the child of God, you’d probably need a little divine intervention to handle that news. Mary’s response, “I am the Lord’s servant,” was not just humble; it was sheer courage (Luke 1:38). Jesus is God. Mary is the Mother of Jesus. Yes, Pete and Grace explore Mary as Mother of God. Now, let’s pivot to Mary as the Mother of the Church. Jesus, from His cross, said, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother” (John 19:26-27). Talk about multitasking! Mary’s role didn’t end with the holy family. No, no. She was given a whole new family—every believer on earth. And we’re not talking about your average extended family gathering; this is the ultimate spiritual family reunion, with an RSVP list that includes everyone from the Apostles to your neighbor’s cat. Moving on to the cosmic scale, Mary is also recognized as the Mother of the Universe. Yes, you heard that right. As the bearer of Jesus, who is often called the “Word” that “was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1), Mary’s influence spans across all of creation. Imagine Mary’s family photos including not just the Holy Family but also the entire cosmos. It’s like the universe’s most exclusive club where you don’t need a VIP pass because your mom already owns the whole place. Finally, Mary is our mother, in the most personal sense. “Behold your mother,” Jesus said to the beloved disciple and, by extension, to all of us (John 19:27). She’s the spiritual mom who never forgets a birthday or leaves you hanging when you need advice. Whether you're lost in the supermarket or lost in your faith, Mary is there, guiding and loving you with that perfect motherly touch. So grab your headphones, and get ready for a podcast episode that’s as enriching as it is entertaining. Pete Speaks with Grace will be your guide through this exploration of Mary as mother. Truly a valuable topic for all. Grab a cup of coffee and relax with this fun and insightful podcast. ⏱️ ⏱️VIDEO CHAPTERS⏱️⏱️ 00:00 - Introduction 07:49 - Mary - Mom of Jesus 25:10 - Mary - Mother of God 33:17 - Mary - Mother of the Church 49:08 - Mary - Mother of the Universe 51:51 - Mary - Is our Mom 40:42 - Closing Remarks

  • So Much Swearing These Days - Should we use Better Speech
    2024/06/26

This podcast about our language in 2024 states the obvious. Swearing has become the norm, especially among young men. Let's face it, the days of getting your mouth washed out with soap for saying a bad word is over, today, bad language is bad a**. Is there any issue with speaking poorly? When you use bad language, are you putting up a shield to protect you from a solid argument? Do people bully with language? Pete and Grace look into this trend and compare it with Christian history... What would Jesus do or say? Dana White of the UFC is a very successful entrepreneur who many can learn from. Yet, his press conferences are full of f-bombs and he dares anyone to question him or his decision making. Chris Rock was not only hit by Will Smith but also assaulted with "Keep my wife out your ****** mouth!!!!". This was on a show that has a reputation for being as popular as the Superbowl and having a standard of elegance, professionalism, and respect in the entertainment industry. The fact is Hollywood is struggling to come back from digital media like Netflix and Amazon Prime plus the recent Covid crisis. Now Hollywood loses more of its shine when the Best Actor has to give his acceptance speech while crying with regret for assaulting a comic who said a joke about his wife. Let's look at this topic further!

What do you think... write in the comments.

  • True Radical! | Pete Speaks With Grace Catholic Podcast
    2024/06/04

Part 1 of 2, this is our discussion of behavior considered to be Radical in the world.

This topic began with the news that Harrison Butker spoke about his Catholic faith during his commencement address to college students at Benedictine College in Kansas. Upon study of the speech, he discloses his personal story relating to faith. The press however twists it to their liking which is clicks and more clicks.... eventually lobbying the NFL to dismiss Harrison. Is Harrison Butker a radical? Some said he is stupid and careless? Should he discuss faith in public? This is a Catholic setting... surely discussing faith compliant with Catholic doctrine is acceptable under free speech.

How about the protestors at College Campuses supporting the Palestinians in the conflict with Israel. Are they radicals? Is this a case where history will answer this question? There are plenty in the media calling them heroic while others are saying they are wasting their time and have picked the wrong side.

Pete and Grace have a conversation on Jesus and how he was viewed. Jesus said "If you had known me, certainly you would also have known my Father. And from now on, you shall know him, and you have seen him." John 14:7. People of that day did not take Jesus statements lightly, was he considered radical? In this first part of a 2 part video we explore Jesus and how he was looked at by others during his live in 30ad.
