概要
This week, I talk about something I see every single day in my practice: iron deficiency in women. Many of my patients come to me feeling exhausted, foggy, or just “not themselves,” and are surprised to learn that low iron is often at the root of it.
I walk you through what iron deficiency is, how it develops, and why women are especially vulnerable — from heavy periods and pregnancy to dietary habits that don’t always support our iron needs. I also explain the difference between iron deficiency and iron‑deficiency anemia, and why both deserve attention.
We spend time on proper diagnosis, including the blood tests I rely on most — like a CBC, ferritin, and CRP — and why simply being told your labs are “normal” isn’t always enough. I also break down the treatment options I discuss with my patients, from dietary changes and oral supplements to intravenous iron infusions when needed.
Most importantly, I want this episode to empower you. Understanding your iron levels is a key part of protecting your overall health, energy, and quality of life. My goal is to give you the knowledge and confidence to ask questions, advocate for yourself, and take an active role in your care.
This is one conversation every woman deserves to have.
