Pentecost reminds us that every person wants to be understood and listened to. We all have locked doors. Fear, guilt, painful memories, addiction, the quiet feeling of "I am not good enough." Fr. Prabhu reminds us in this homily that the Holy Spirit doesn't knock and wait for perfect people. He simply enters.
Using the tender image of a little granddaughter and the grandfather who felt happy when his granddaughter spoke gently to him, we too need to realize how important patience, compassion, and understanding are in daily life. "God speaks to people in a way they can understand. The Holy Spirit comes to us in a way we can receive Him."
We are reminded to listen with our hearts, to speak kindly to others, and to trust that the Holy Spirit works through ordinary people and simple actions daily. The Holy Spirit can transform us like how the disciples were transformed.
Come, Holy Spirit.
