In this lesson of Sūrah Yūsuf (verses 80–86), Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf takes us to the emotional turning point of the story. Yūsuf’s brothers, unable to free Binyamīn, retreat into private discussion. The eldest brother vows not to leave Egypt without their father’s consent or until Allāh decides the matter. Back home, Yaʿqūb (ʿalayhi as-salām) meets the news with unshakable patience (ṣabr jamīl) and complete trust in Allāh, even as his grief over Yūsuf overwhelms him. These verses remind us of the power of steadfast faith, the importance of taking responsible action, and the comfort found in turning all sorrow and hope to Allāh alone.

In this lesson of Sūrah Yūsuf (69–79), Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf recounts the emotional reunion between Yūsuf عليه السلام and his full brother, Binyamīn, and the wise plan Yūsuf sets in motion to keep him in Egypt. By placing the king’s measuring bowl in Binyamīn’s bag, Yūsuf creates a situation that appears incriminating yet serves a greater purpose decreed by Allāh. The brothers, unaware of his identity, react with suspicion and defensiveness, even reviving old accusations. The episode highlights divine planning over human schemes, the restraint of a heart that forgives without revealing, and the unwavering commitment to justice even under personal pressure.

In this lesson of Sūrah Yūsuf (63–68), Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf explains how Yūsuf’s brothers return to Yaʿqūb عليه السلام with the demand to send their youngest brother back to Egypt to secure more provisions. Yaʿqūb, recalling the loss of Yūsuf, hesitates but eventually agrees after taking a solemn oath from them, placing his trust in Allāh as the ultimate Guardian. He advises his sons to enter Egypt through separate gates, not as a means to escape divine decree, but to act with wisdom while knowing that only Allāh’s will prevails. This passage highlights reliance upon Allāh, the balance between precaution and trust, and the deep insight of a prophet guided by divine knowledge.
