  • Pond Dipping and Maginifying Life
    2026/04/10

Ending our week at Agri-TechE with a spot of pond-dipping – and reflecting on why we need technology to monitor and manage Nature at scale.

Measuring pollination, soil health, water quality, species diversity…..and how to make the return on investment, we’ll be discussing all this and more at our event on 28th April hosted by Rothamsted.

No wellies or test tubes needed – and certainly no magnifying lenses, but we will be hearing from major UK farming businesses and landowners as to how they are tackling this. Also processors, supply chain partners and networks, as well as a technology exhibition, and meet our sponsors, ADAS, Fenland Soil and Rothamsted Enterprises.

Also next week – come and learn about the secret sauce for agritech and how to protect it, with IP21, the next in our micro-learning series over the summer where we’ll be from the legal experts in our network about how the legal world is changing for agriculture with the advent of technology.

  • UK Land Use Framework Launched
    2026/03/20

Friday round up from Agri-TechE - in a week that has seen the launch of the UK’s Land Use Framework and our hosting of the big ARISE programme delegates from North and South America.

    This week:

    - The Farming Minister was at the University of Reading to talk about the report around land use for food production, nature recovery, housing, energy production, communities and amenities. Good to see a focus on domestic food production but the "More With Less" message is writ large......agriculture is going to have to be even more productive.

    - The 6 month ARISE programme culminated in a UK visit for the delegates at the Norwich Research Park, Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology and WMG, University of Warwick. A great showcase of different innovation ecosystems in the UK - we wish we had time to visit all the UK has to offer.

    - The Innovation Summit was hosted at Niab and featured more than 80 partnering meetings (yes, 80!) between the ARISE delegates and our community, as well as talks about cross-border funding for research, innovation and collaboration. Closing with a fantastic insight into Dyson Farming Research by Richard Meredith.....the longest post-talk queue we have ever seen of people wanting to talk to him afterwards!

Big shout out to the ARISE delegation from some excellent global institutions, including Embrapa, the Yield Lab LATAM, the Yield Lab Institute, Washington University in St Louis, Taylor Geospatial, Donald Danforth Plant Science Centre, agcenter, Universidad Austral, Tecnologico de Monterrey, CREA, as well as Agritierra and Earthbase, and Newcastle University and Harper Adams University.

  • Are you a Plant?
    2026/03/17
In this week’s round-up from Agri-TechE, I reveal what I am (according to Belbin) and what we've learnt about teamwork. Also: 📣The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs announces dynamic alignment of UK rules with the EU – a single “rule book” on agreed areas of law. I talked with CropLife UK’s Feodora Rayner about the critical importance of good regulatory practice, science- and based policy-making and the hazard of chaos. 🤝 Meeting Steve McLean of the UK Agri-Tech Centre and hearing about their new strategy, helping agri-tech companies launch, thrive and deliver impact to the agri-food supply chain. 🫶 A meeting of minds with David Webster of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming)……..let’s change the world together! 😊 Proud to be welcoming Robert Bradburne the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Environment Agency to our “Nature-tech for Profit and Planet” conference in April. There’s still time to book an exhibition slot and your delegate ticket and put your questions about flooding, soils health, and tech for ELM to him (and others). ✈️ Revving up to welcome our friends from the ARISE programme to the UK next week, still time to book partnering meetings with delegates from LATAM and St Louis, Missouri. Met or mentioned this week: Earthbase | AgriTIERRA | The Yield Lab Institute | The Yield Lab LATAM | Judith Batchelar OBE | Stella Peace | Minette Batters DL | Anne Ferguson-Smith | Matt Smith |News, trends, and breakthroughs shaping the future of farming, brought to you by Agri-TechE.
