このコンテンツについて
In this episode of The Bass Hole Podcast, we dive into a topic that hits close to home for many seasoned bass fishermen. Even though I’m not yet 60, I can already relate to the challenges that come with getting older on the water — and I’ll share more about my own physical limitations in a future episode.
Recently, I watched a video from Matt Stefan titled “Ban These From Professional Bass Tournaments,” where he suggests pedestal seats should be banned and that anglers should have to “surf” the deck of their boats to prove they’re fit. His take seemed to target older anglers, dismissing them as out of shape or behind the times — and that didn’t sit right with me.
In this episode, we talk about age discrimination in bass fishing, the real struggles older anglers face — from balance and endurance to eyesight, heat and cold tolerance, and the memories of what they used to do with ease — and why these men and women still deserve a place on the water and in competition.
This isn’t just about fishing; it’s about respect, resilience, and passion that doesn’t fade with age. Whether you’re an old-school angler or just starting out, you’ll want to hear this one.
