  • Ol' Scuttlebutt And The Three Kings
    2026/05/25

This week we dive into hobby progress, league prep, and some spicy new releases. From dialing in paint schemes (and fixing those “oops all green” moments) to pushing forward on bigger hobby projects like Star Wars Legion terrain and potential paint-along videos, there’s a lot in motion behind the scenes. We’re also locking in details for an upcoming Journeyman League, so keep your eyes peeled in early June for 30 point start date, along with relaxed vibes, and a great chance to grow the community. On the table side of talk, we’re breaking down some of the newest models like the Shadow Seraph and Ol' Scuttlebutt, talking through their wild mechanics, and theorycrafting how they’ll shake things up. Also, Chris joins mid conversation to touch on recent game testing, scenario play, and how positioning and turn order can make or break your match. Big things are coming, and we’re just getting started.

  • Kithguard Rising: Part2 Solo Dive
    2026/05/11

Can you believe this is our 40th episode? We cant't.

This one’s a little different. No roundtable, no back-and-forth. It's just me diving headfirst into the wild, brutal, and honestly awesome world of the Kithguard.

I wrap up the lore deep dive, covering everything from jungle trolls and Mistborn dire trolls to absolute monsters like the Fortress King, and all the way down to the gritty, boots-on-the-ground units that make this force feel alive. There’s something special about how this army blends raw savagery with clever engineering like the chainsaw gauntlet of Chomper, mobile artillery beasts, tunnel ambush tactics. It’s all here, and it all tells a story. I also take some time to connect the dots between lore and rules, looking at how these characters and units actually feel on the table compared to the narrative behind them. Some hit perfectly, some raise an eyebrow, but overall? There’s a lot to be excited about.

If you’re a Trollblood player, a Kithguard fan, or just someone who loves when lore and gameplay collide in super cool and fun ways, this episode is for you. Chris and Angus will be back next episode, and we’ll hit the tactics hard. But for now, kick back and enjoy the ride through one of the more flavorful forces in the Caen. Jump into the conversation, let me know what you think, and as always, remember, we’re Not Just Tactics.

The crew talks hobby progress, painting crunch, and teaching newer players before shifting into a rich breakdown of Trollkin history, from ancient origins and the rise of Madrak Ironhide to the migration to the southern continent of Alchiere. The episode wraps with the formation of the Kithguard and spotlight lore on key leaders like General Gunnbjorn, Stormcraw, and others, setting the stage for a deeper tactical dive in the next episode.

  • Power Attacks Unleashed: Smashing, Slamming, and Tactical Chaos
    2026/04/27

In this episode, the crew finally delivers on a much delayed request and dives deep into Warmachine’s power attacks, breaking down headbutts, slams, throws, and tramples while mixing in real-game experiences and practical strategy. Between hobby updates, new model pickups, and one unfortunate lost parts incident, the conversation shifts into how and when to actually use these often-overlooked mechanics on the table. From clearing objectives with throws to creating devastating chain reactions with slams, the team explores both the rules and the real value behind these attacks. With insights and plenty of table-side storytelling, this episode highlights how power attacks can turn the tide of a game, that's if you can remember to use them. Remember, we're not just tactics, we community.

  • Basements, Battlefields, And Adepticon Aftermath
    2026/04/13

This episode opens with a flooded basement after a sump pump failure during a Wisconsin storm, turning a stressful situation into a moment of pride as his kids jump in to help and reinforcing that real life comes first. From there, Tony and Angus catch up and recap AdeptiCon from their own perspectives, noting a hiccup but overall highlighting the positive experience of meeting people and engaging with the community. Their doubles event showcases how years of playing together allowed them to move quickly and efficiently without much discussion, creating plenty of memorable moments even in tough matchups. They also touch on gameplay elements like terrain, chess clocks, and preferred point sizes, landing on 50 and 75 points as their sweet spot, while Tony’s chaotic but exciting narrative event experience offers a contrast to competitive play. The Adepticon keynote adds some hype with upcoming models and system updates, and the conversation shifts into hobby progress, new armies, and future plans. The episode wraps with a strong focus on community building, sharing tools to help players connect, stories of meeting listeners, and ideas for expanding into streaming and more content, all reinforcing that it’s not just about the game, but the people behind it.

  • Live At AdeptiCon Sunday
    2026/04/06

We recorded live from the wild, noisy(not so much after editing), and absolutely electric floors of AdeptiCon in Milwaukee, this episode drops you right into the middle of the action. Chris and I are boots-on-the-ground, soaking in everything the convention has to offer, from brutal doubles matches and brain-melting game marathons to unforgettable moments that only live events can deliver.

The doubles tournament brought exactly what you’d expect: unfamiliar matchups, unpredictable chaos, and a whole lot of learning. Infernals remain a mystery to us, mechanical dwarves made their presence known, and Orgoth Butcher proved once again that sometimes a model just refuses to stop killing. Even with a few bracket shakeups and last-minute re-pairings, the games delivered big moments, not to mention a legendary underdog play where Riggles, AKA "Rattles", stepped up and threw down massive damage on a Wyvern, instantly earning battlefield glory and a promotion to Sergeant.

Beyond the games, the AdeptiCon experience itself takes center stage. We dive into what makes events like this special, like meeting listeners, connecting with the community, and seeing the people behind the game fully immersed alongside the players. Steamforged Games gets major praise for being present, engaged, and genuinely part of the hobby, not just observers from afar. There’s also no shortage of hobby hype. From jumping into new armies with unbeatable convention deals to late-night painting sessions just to get models table-ready, the energy never slows down. I share my experience in a massive narrative event spanning multiple tables, complete with portals, split forces, and full-on strategic chaos that pushed my brain to the limit.

As the episode rolls on, it becomes clear that this is more than just games, it’s about the community. Whether it’s meeting listeners face-to-face, getting called out for matches, or welcoming new and returning players into the fold, the passion for growing the scene is front and center. That theme continues with a guest interview highlighting a thriving local meta, the evolution of the Warmachine community, and why players are coming back stronger than ever in the current edition. By the end, one thing is certain: AdeptiCon isn’t just an event, it’s an experience. Equal parts exhausting and inspiring, it’s a reminder of why putting models on the table, rolling dice, and connecting with others is what this hobby is all about. Did I mention somewhere in all that chaos, Riggles became a legend.
