  • Salt and Light

We live in a world that desperately needs what followers of Jesus are called to bring, yet we can sometimes wonder how ordinary people can make any meaningful difference in such a complicated and increasingly dark culture. Jesus answers that question with two remarkably ordinary images: salt and light. He doesn't tell His followers to become famous, powerful, or impressive; He simply says, “You are the salt of the earth” and “You are the light of the world.” Salt makes a difference because it is useful and distinct, while light makes a difference because it shines into darkness. In the same way, God has placed each of us in homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, churches, and communities where our presence should make a difference for Christ. But Jesus also reminds us that the purpose of our influence is not to draw attention to ourselves—it is to point people toward Him. Our words, character, kindness, integrity, forgiveness, and everyday actions should give the people around us a glimpse of the Savior who has transformed us. The question is not whether we can change the whole world, but whether we are faithfully allowing the light of Christ to shine through us wherever God has placed us.

  • Peace
    2026/08/23

We live in a world filled with conflict—divided families, fractured friendships, political hostility, church disagreements, and relationships damaged by words and actions that are difficult to take back. In the midst of all this division, Jesus offers a radically different calling to His followers: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” Notice that Jesus does not simply bless those who avoid conflict or keep everyone happy; He blesses those who actively pursue reconciliation. And this kind of peacemaking begins with what God has already done in us. Because Christ has made peace between us and God through His blood, we are called to carry that message of reconciliation into our relationships with others. But biblical peacemaking is not the same as compromising truth or avoiding difficult conversations—it requires the wisdom to know when to speak, the humility to listen, the courage to tell the truth in love, and the grace to forgive. It is difficult work, and sometimes pursuing peace may actually bring conflict, but when we faithfully walk the path of truth, grace, and reconciliation, we reflect the character of our heavenly Father and demonstrate to the world what it looks like to belong to Jesus.

  • Pure
    2026/08/16

Every human heart longs to see God—to know that He is real, that He is near, and that He is at work in our lives. Yet Jesus gives us a surprising answer to the question of who experiences that blessing: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” In a world that often measures purity by outward appearance, religious performance, or moral achievement, Jesus points beyond what others can see to the condition of the heart. And this promise is both more profound and more gracious than we might initially realize. We cannot make ourselves pure enough to stand before a holy God; our hope is found in the cleansing righteousness of Jesus Christ. But those who have been made clean by Christ are then called to pursue a life of increasing holiness through God’s Word, the work of the Holy Spirit, the encouragement of His people, and a daily commitment to follow Jesus. The promise is extraordinary: those who belong to Christ will one day see Him face-to-face, but even now, as we pursue purity of heart, we can experience the reality of His presence and the joy of knowing Him more deeply. The question before us is not whether God is still at work, but whether we desire Him enough to seek Him with all our hearts.
