The second episode focuses on Shamir's entry into the US market, which started small. In 1989, Michael Latzer went to the US by himself to sell glass progressive molds to local lens manufacturers. Following Michael's introduction of Shamir’s technology into the US market, Hiller van der Veen and Raanan Naftalovich came along to form SII in order to sell not molds but lenses and more importantly lenses that were branded Shamir.
