  • Trade War Incoming? Trump Targets Canada + Mehdi Hasan vs The Far Right
    2025/07/26

Join us on No Power Panel as we break down the most pressing stories from this week:

Canadian First Ministers Meeting (July 21–23, 2025)

Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Doug Ford convened in Huntsville, Ontario, alongside provincial premiers and First Nations chiefs to forge a unified strategy in response to former U.S. President Trump’s threat of 35% tariffs on Canadian goods beginning August 1. These talks have put national unity, health funding, and trade resilience front and center.

    U.S.–Canada Trade Negotiations Resume

Canada rescinded its proposed digital services tax targeting U.S. tech giants—clearing a path to restart negotiations. Despite this, Trade Minister Reynolds and Finance Minister Carney acknowledged that a tariff‑free deal is unlikely, signaling possible long-term sector-specific tariffs to be finalized by August 1

    Trump in the Epstein Files

Recent revelations confirm Donald Trump’s name appears multiple times—nine times in the DOJ’s “phase one” release of Epstein documents. He was formally briefed in May by AG Pam Bondi. While his team filed a \$20 billion defamation lawsuit over a birthday card claim, no criminal evidence has emerged. Meanwhile, convicted trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has testified to authorities about nearly 100 Epstein-connected figures in hopes of a pardon. The DOJ maintains there was no actionable “client list".

Mehdi Hasan’s Viral Jubilee ‘Surrounded’ Episode

On July 20, Mehdi Hasan faced off against 20 self-described far-right conservatives in a highly charged episode of Jubilee’s Surrounded. The debate included openly fascist participants and devolved into xenophobic epithets—including calls for Hasan’s deportation. The episode has sparked backlash and conversation about the limits of online political debate.

Winners & Losers of the Week

Our signature segment: we highlight the standout victories and setbacks in Canadian and international politics. Who came out stronger—and who's faltering?

  • Zohran Mamdani Ends the Cuomo Political Dynasty
    2025/06/28

On another episode of No Power Panel we discuss Mark Carney's pledge to double Canada's defense spending by 2035. Is austerity economics coming to Canada?

In Alberta political news, Naheed Nenshi and the Alberta NDP win 2 by-elections, including Nenshi's new seat of Edmonton Strathcona. The Alberta Republican party performed better than expected in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills running on a platform of becoming the 51st state.

Zohran Mamdani outperforms all expectations, including ours, and comes in first on the first ballot, with the expectation he will cross 50% in subsequent rounds. We discuss Zohran's win, the reaction to his victory and what this means for the Canadian and American left.

We finish the week with Winners and Losers as always.

  • Is The Honeymoon Over For Mark Carney?
    2025/06/20

We reveal how we plan to cover the war in the Middle East.

Then No Power Panel discusses Mark Carney's bill C-5, compare it to Doug Ford's Bill 5 and explain why its unconstitutional. The G7 also doesn't go according to plan for Carney. Are things starting to crumble around the new Prime Minister?

Then we turn our focus back to the New York City mayoral campaign. As Zohran Mamdani continues to close the gap and receives a massive endorsement from Bernie Sanders. We discuss ICE illegally detaining Brad Lander and the ramifications. Noam repeatedly encourages people not to rank Andrew Cuomo.

Finally our Winners and Losers for the week might not be who you expect!

  • Protests, War, and An Appeal to Humanity
    2025/06/14

A lot has changed in a week and we're here to cover it all. Israel and Iran have gone to war, largely due to Israel's first strikes on military and civilian targets. We discuss if this is the start of World War 3, what could happen next and how is the international community responding.

ICE have begun kidnapping citizens and immigrants, targeting visible minority communities. Donald Trump orders the national guard and marines into Los Angeles and they break the law!!! Protests rise up against ICE and Trump admin as America finally awakens to their new fascist reality. We support and stand with the protesters while encouraging safety and non-violence for as long as is feasible.

Mark Carney prepares to host the G7 and has extended invitations to multiple non-G7 leaders, including Indian PM Narendra Modi who has been credibly accused of Canadian election interference, ordering the assassination of a Canadian citizen in Canada and the breaking news of former NDP leader Jagmeet Singh under surveillance.

We choose our winners and losers for this week including Zohran Mamdani, the candidate for Mayor of New York City and we close by listening to his viral debate clip owning Andrew Cuomo.

  • Elon and Trump Go Scorched Earth and Bill 5 is Terrible
    2025/06/13

Elon Musk and Donald Trump go scorched earth on each other. Donald threatens to cut off millions from Elon in government contracts and Elon reveals that Trump is in the Epstein files. What's next in this wild soap opera of a government?

Doug Ford's Conservatives pass Bill 5 and we go off! Bill 5 is an insult to first nations, municipalities and democracy itself. We explain what the Bill does and how it's impact will likely make for a difficult time ahead for Ontario's economy and civil society.

A federal Conservative amendment to the throne speech passes with NDP and Bloc Quebecois support. It demands a budget be tabled before the summer recess and Mark Carney refuses to listen to it. Does Mark Carney understand the issues of managing a minority parliament and a caucus to boot? First signs point to no.

And in Winners and Losers, Mark Carney takes a nosedive and Zohran Mamdani could be the next mayor of New York City.
