① 〜かどうか（whether or not）

例文

1. クッキーを食べるかどうか考えました。

   → I thought about whether or not to eat the cookies.

2. 明日、雨が降るかどうかわかりません。

   → I don’t know whether it will rain tomorrow or not.

3. その映画が面白いかどうか知りたいです。

   → I want to know whether that movie is interesting or not.

② 〜前に（before）

例文

1. 寝る前に歯をみがきます。

   → I brush my teeth before going to bed.

2. 日本に行く前に日本語を勉強しました。

   → I studied Japanese before going to Japan.

3. 食事の前に手を洗います。

   → I wash my hands before a meal.

③ 〜ないで／しないで（without doing / don’t do）

例文

1. クッキーを食べないで、ハーブティーを飲みました。

   → I drank herbal tea without eating cookies.

2. 辞書を使わないで読んでみてください。

   → Please try reading without using a dictionary.

3. 無理をしないでください。

   → Please don’t push yourself.

④ 〜ことにする（to decide to）

例文

1. 甘いものを食べないことにしました。

   → I decided not to eat sweet things.

2. 毎日、日本語を勉強することにしました。

   → I decided to study Japanese every day.

3. 今日は早く寝ることにします。

   → I will decide to go to bed early today.
