    Summarized Transcript:

Good morning, everyone. It is October 7, 2025. We’ll be praying about Mental Health today.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) observes Mental Illness Awareness Week from October 5–11, this year, with the theme “Building Community: Supporting Mental Well-being Together,” emphasizing connections, advocacy, and local efforts to bolster mental health support.

On October 10, the organization encourages participation in a global dialogue to increase awareness and push for better mental health care.

These Key statistics highlight the crisis:

    • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences mental illness annually
    • 1 in 20 faces serious mental illness
    • 1 in 6 youth aged 6-17 has a mental health disorder
    • 50% of lifetime cases begin by age 14 (75% by age 24)
    • Suicide ranks as the second leading cause of death for ages 10-14.

    So let’s pray…

    Lord,

We lift up those struggling with mental illness across our nation and world. As we reflect on the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s call to build community, we pray for Your strength to unite us in supporting the one in five adults and one in six youth facing mental health challenges, that they may find hope and healing through Your love.

Comfort those battling serious mental illness and guide families, friends, and communities to offer meaningful support, especially for the young, where half of lifetime struggles begin by age 14.

We know it is your will that we might all operate with a sound mind. Lord, we grieve for those lost to suicide, the second leading cause of death for our youth; Surround their loved ones with Your comfort and inspire advocates to foster care and awareness to de-escalate this crisis and partner with you to help bring your peace that surpasses understanding.

May Your grace empower us to remove any stigma surrounding mental health. Make us more like you, as we pursue this worthy endeavor.

    Amen.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

    Until next time…

  • Nigeria’s Christian Persecution Crisis
    2025/10/02
Support the ShowSummarized Transcript: Good morning, everyone. It is October 2, 2025. Today I’m going to focus on what’s going in Nigeria, and I’d like to lift those Christians up in prayer. So here’s a rundown of what’s been going on:1. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, is a hotspot for religious hostility, with more Christians killed for their faith by Islamic extremists in its northern and central regions over the past decade than in the entire Middle East. The violence targets Christian communities amid ongoing religious and ethnic tensions. The country’s volatile environment continues to challenge peace and security efforts.2. Father Mathew Eya, a Nigerian priest, was killed on September 19, 2025, while returning to his parish of St. Charles, adding to the grief of a church already suffering from frequent clergy kidnappings. His death highlights the persistent dangers faced by Christian leaders in Nigeria. The incident has deepened the community’s mourning and calls for protection.3. In June 2025, attackers armed with rifles, machetes, and fuel killed at least 160 people in Yelwata, a Christian farming village in Nigeria’s Benue state. The assault, one of the deadliest recently, targeted sleeping families in the Middle Belt, a region plagued by farmer-herder conflicts. Suspects are primarily Fulani Muslim herders or bandits, fueling global outrage. The attack underscores Nigeria’s escalating land and religious disputes.4. We also need to consider Boko Haram’s insurgency, which launched in July 2009, and continues to fuel religious violence in Nigeria, aiming to establish an Islamic state. The group’s rebellion exploits tensions between Muslim and Christian communities, particularly in the north. The conflict has caused widespread devastation, with ongoing clashes disrupting lives and communities.5. On September 5, this year, Boko Haram jihadists killed 63 people, including seven soldiers, in attacks in Darul Jamal, Borno State, Nigeria, with others reported missing. The assault reflects the group’s ongoing campaign of violence against both civilians and security forces. The incident has intensified calls for stronger measures to counter the insurgency. So let’s pray…Thank you for listening to News on Knees, a community prayer podcast by Story King Media. • Afghanistan Internet Blackout, Putin on Trump's Golden Dome, Mortgage Help Search Spike, Heart Risk Study, and Veteran Shootings
    2025/09/30
Support the ShowTranscript: Good afternoon, everyone. It is September 30, 2025. Here are the stories we’re praying about today.1. Afghanistan is experiencing a nationwide internet and mobile blackout ordered by the Taliban on September 29, 2025, to combat "immoral activities," following weeks of fiber-optic cuts in provinces. NetBlocks reported connectivity dropping to 14% of normal levels, disrupting essential services, flights from Kabul, and contact with international news agencies. The UN urged restoration of access, warning of harm to the economy and a humanitarian crisis in the isolated nation. This marks the most extensive shutdown since the Taliban's 2021 return to power.2. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed alarm on September 30, 2025, over U.S. President Trump's "Golden Dome" missile defense plan, which includes space-based weapons, fearing it could neutralize Russia's nuclear arsenal. The initiative, announced in May 2025, aims to create a multilayered shield against ballistic and cruise missiles. Russian state media highlighted concerns of an arms race escalation. Putin reiterated Russia's strategic systems' ability to counter such defenses.3. Google searches for "help with mortgage" reached their highest level since 2009 in August 2025, drawing attention from Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who blamed the Trump administration. NewsNation confirmed the spike via Google Trends, though the chart Warren shared peaked in 2008. Experts note this doesn't signal a housing bubble, as delinquency rates remain low at under 2%, far from 2010's 11% peak. Foreclosure filings rose 5.8% year-over-year but are minimal compared to the Great Recession.4. A recent study analyzing over 600,000 cases found that more than 99% of cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes are preceded by at least one detectable risk factor, such as suboptimal blood pressure or smoking. Researchers emphasized the potential for global prevention through early intervention. The findings challenge the idea of sudden cardiac incidents without warning. Similar patterns held in U.S. and Korean cohorts, with elevated blood pressure as the most common marker.5. A 40-year-old Marine veteran, Nigel Max Edge, was arrested on September 28, 2025, after allegedly firing an assault rifle at a North Carolina waterfront bar, killing three and injuring eight. Authorities described the attack as "highly premeditated," with Edge suffering from PTSD and a possible traumatic brain injury from Iraq service. He faces murder and attempted murder charges, with prosecutors considering the death penalty. The incident shattered the peaceful coastal community during a live music event.6. Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40-year-old Marine veteran from Burton, Michigan, was killed by police on September 28, 2025, after ramming his truck into a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township and opening fire, killing four and injuring eight. Friends said Sanford harbored resentment toward Mormons from a past breakup with an LDS girlfriend, viewing them as "the antichrist." He served in Iraq from 2004-2008 and had a son with a rare genetic disorder. The attack, one of two Marine veteran-involved shootings that weekend, included setting the church ablaze.Thank you for listening to News on Knees, a community prayer podcast by Story King Media.
