  • Autonomie stratégique européenne : où en est-on vraiment ?
    2026/07/13

    2026/07/02

Since January 2025, Transatlantic Relations have entered a period of unprecedented turbulence. Washington's provocative statements on Greenland, the partial suspension of aid to Ukraine, growing doubts over NATO commitments: for many Europeans, something fundamental has broken down. But has it really? And perhaps more importantly, how is this moment being experienced in Warsaw, Tallinn, or Riga? The capitals that have been sounding the alarm about the Russian threat for decades.

To discuss this, we are joined today by Sławomir Dębski, associate Professor at the College of Europe, Natolin campus in Warsaw, a historian by training and specialist in strategy. He is the author of several books on European security.

  • Beyond burden-sharing : What the Atlantic Alliance is really arguing about - Ian Lesser
    2026/05/27

One year and a half after Donald Trump's return to the White House, almost every assumption underpinning the transatlantic relationship has been stress tested. Some have held, many have not.

Welcome to Navigating the Atlantic, this second season’s first episode. Today we are asking the question that frames this entire season. • Trump 2.0 : What future for Europe and the United States ? Ian Lesser analyses the new transatlantic cooperation
    2025/03/27

On January 20th, Donald Trump became the 47th President of the United States. Since that day, Donald Trump has been pressuring Europeans to allocate a larger share of their budget to defense, while simultaneously weakening the security guarantees that the United States provides to Europe through NATO. Forced to take responsibility for themselves, Europeans are compelled to acknowledge how much they remain militarily under the influence of the United States.

The path to European strategic autonomy will be long and complex for Europe, which lacks the means to defend its security interests when they diverge from those of the United States. Today on euradio, we talk about the future of the Transatlantic Partnership under the new Trump administration. For that, we have a special guest, Ian Lesser, who holds the Chair in Transatlantic Trade and Economy at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. He is also Vice President at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Brussels.
