概要
I spent several days at Spirit Rock Meditation Center not talking, not reading, and not making eye contact. People imagine this is relaxing. It is not relaxing. It's like a haunted house, except the ghost is you from with a better memory.
Three insights I brought home:
Your mind is a committee, and some members need to be fired. There's the one convinced you're behind, the one who thinks rest is laziness, and the one still plotting a comeback.
Discomfort isn't an emergency. Your brain treats every unpleasant moment like a five-alarm fire. Training yourself to stay present is basically CrossFit for your nervous system.
Intention isn't one big decision. It's hundreds of small ones to come back after you drift. Notice. Return. Repeat. Annoyingly simple. Ridiculously hard.
I came home with a two-minute daily practice. No app required. Just you, finding out what happens when you stop running.
