  • I have a Polish background, I was born in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. I know five languages, Spanish, Ukrainian, French, English and Sign Language. I got to work with Down Syndrome and Special Needs. I got experience many things at a young age, that many wouldn’t experience or would experience later on. I chose to share these experiences because I used to feel ashamed, now I use it as strength. A survival guide to help others. If I can get through the difficult parts of life, so can you. My book of days, it was never easy, but I never let it change me either.

Being born in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, adopted at two years old, took seven days to go across the wide ocean to the United States Of America. I didn’t learn how to walk or talk until I was five years old. Many said I would never make it or I would never survive. When I was born I was four pounds and eight ounces. I was premature. I was supposed to be born in July not January. The day my parents came to adopt me, was the day I became available. If they came a day earlier or later I wouldn’t have been up for adoption. My biological mother had me when she was eighteen years old. We are eighteen years apart. A story I was told and always stayed part of me. There were these two woman who one year had lettuce, water and peanut butter. The second year they only had lettuce and water. When they saw that my adopted parents had two large jars of peanut butter. My adopted parents gave it to them. When I was in Ukraine, I only survived on milk, there wasn’t much meat. That story has always stuck with me, because I’m very fortunate to be over here, to start over a new life, where many would give anything to have this opportunity, I came from a third world country. My hometown was destroyed on national tv. This is where my life started and will always be my roots. I thankful to have what I have. I was never given anything for free, I worked for it. I didn’t cheat my way through school. I didn’t copy others and I never followed the crowd. I always walked alone and there was a reason for that. I have eight more classes left and my bachelors degree in Transportation and Logistics management will be done . Then in the fall of next year I am getting my masters degree in Supply Chain Management, which only be seven classes because fifteen credits will be transferred and it’s a thirty credited program. I had many teachers and professors try to fail me or say I wasn’t worth it or I wouldn’t make it. I had many envious and jealous of me, because I was different, but I choose to thrive from being different and embrace it. Usually when many hate you, it usually means you are doing something right, plus they are your biggest supporters even if they don’t want to admit it. I always bounced back from life threw at me. My book of days didn’t end in Ukraine, it still continued to this very day.
