  • S3E9 Shared Weight Feels Lighter
    2026/08/31

Being capable doesn't mean we have to carry everything alone.

And I'll admit—asking for help doesn't come naturally to me. I'm much more comfortable being the person who shows up for someone else than admitting I could use someone beside me.

In this week's Monday Musings with The Blended Mama, I'm reflecting on Habit #5 from How Women Rise: Failing to Enlist Allies from Day One and what it looks like to intentionally build relationships with people who can encourage us, challenge us, advocate for us, and simply walk alongside us.

Because sometimes the answer to “I should be able to handle this myself” is:

You can. But you don't have to.

    In This Episode

💜 Why being capable and being supported aren't opposites
💜 The difference allies, mentors, and sponsors can make
💜 How collaborating with Wendy helped us build the Purpose & Progress Place together
💜 Why building relationships before we need help matters
💜 How even small acts of support can make a heavy season feel a little lighter

    Reflection Question

Look at one goal, project, or responsibility you're currently carrying and ask:

    Who belongs in this plan?

Who could offer perspective, encouragement, experience, accountability—or simply walk beside you?

    This Week's Gentle Step

    Invite one person in.

Send the text. Share the idea. Ask the question. Schedule the coffee.

You don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed to let someone walk alongside you.

    Shared weight feels lighter.

  • S3E8 Too Much or Not Enough
    2026/08/24

Have you ever wondered if you're too much?

Too loud. Too emotional. Too opinionated. Too enthusiastic.

But then, when you hold back, you're encouraged to speak up, be confident, and use your voice.

    So…which is it?

In this week's Monday Musings with The Blended Mama, I'm reflecting on Habit #10 from How Women Rise: Too Much and the tension between showing up authentically and remaining willing to grow.

Because we don't have to erase the parts of ourselves that make us who we are in order to become more self-aware.

Growth can refine you without erasing you.

    In This Episode

💜 What being “Expressive-Expressive” taught me about myself
💜 The difference between authenticity and ignoring our impact
💜 Why feedback doesn't always mean we need to change who we are
💜 What happens when worrying about being “too much” causes us to stop contributing altogether

    Reflection Question

Where am I editing myself because growth requires it—and where am I editing myself simply to make other people comfortable?

    This Week's Gentle Step

Notice one moment when you're tempted to hold back something that genuinely needs to be said.

Pause. Consider what you want to communicate and how you want to communicate it.

    Then say it—intentionally.

  • S3E7 Not Every Request Requires a Yes
    2026/08/17

Saying no used to feel a lot like disappointing someone. These days, I see it differently: saying no can be a way of protecting the priorities I've already said yes to.

In this week's episode of Monday Musings with The Blended Mama, I'm reflecting on Habit #8 from How Women Rise: The Disease to Please and what I've learned about giving better yeses.

Because an empty spot on the calendar doesn't necessarily mean we have the capacity for another commitment.

Every yes has to fit somewhere.

    In This Episode

💜 Why I've gotten more comfortable saying no

💜 The difference between having time and having capacity

💜 Why a good opportunity still may not be right for this season

💜 How I use my priorities and planner to decide what deserves a yes

    Reflection Question

What will this yes require from me?

Not just time—consider your energy, preparation, mental space, and what may need to change to make room for it.

    This Week's Gentle Step

The next time someone asks something of you, pause before you answer.

Look at your calendar. Consider your priorities. Then decide whether this request deserves your yes.

Remember: Sometimes no is simply protecting a yes you've already given.
