Continuing Panjab University Tour. In this Episode we are conversation with Dr Ali Abbas of Urdu Department.

The Panjab University of undivided Punjab was a prestigious institution established in 1882 in Lahore, now in Pakistan. It played a pivotal role in the educational landscape of the region, serving as a hub for intellectual discourse and fostering generations of prominent scholars and leaders.

During its pre-partition years, the university boasted a diverse range of academic disciplines, encompassing the arts, sciences, law, medicine, and engineering. Renowned figures like Allama Iqbal, Muhammad Iqbal, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz graced its halls, leaving behind a rich legacy of literary and cultural contributions.

The university also served as a breeding ground for political activism, with student movements playing a significant role in the struggle for Indian independence. Its vibrant campus pulsated with intellectual ferment and a spirit of resistance against colonial rule.

Following the partition of India in 1947, the university was divided, with a new institution, Panjab University, being established in Chandigarh, India. While the physical entity may have been split, the legacy of the undivided Panjab University continues to inspire and shape educational discourse in both India and Pakistan
