Mesechta Brachos 6th Perek Shiur 1 – 35a - 37a
August 10, 2026
In this shiur we open the sixth perek of Masechta Brachos, "Keitzad Mevarchim." We read the Mishna, work through the Gemara's source for reciting brachos from "Kodesh Hilulim," Rabbi Akiva's ruling that one may not taste before a bracha, and the powerful statement of Rav Chanina bar Papa that one who enjoys this world without a bracha is like a thief. From there we move into the sugya of shemen zayin (olive oil) and why it retains Borei Pri Ha'etz, the discussion of anigron and anisikan, wheat flour and She'hakol, palm hearts, the kaper bush and orla, the general principle of Kol She'yesh Bo Mineh Bracha, and the machlokes of Rav and Shmuel on rice and millet — closing with barley flour and a short review quiz.
