Nearly three years of Israeli bombardment have left hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza without homes, schools or safe spaces to play. In Deir al Balah, swimming coach Amjed Tantesh and a team of volunteers have built makeshift pools from sandbags and rubble on the beach, offering children a rare escape from displacement and loss. The initiative, founded in memory of Tantesh's brother Bahjat, killed in an Israeli attack last year, also teaches vital swimming skills to youngsters who have never learned to swim despite living by the sea. Al Jazeera’s Moath Al Kahlout reports from Deir el-Balah, Gaza.
