Lux Radio Theater presents “Salute to the Marines,” originally broadcast November 8, 1943, as episode 413. This wartime adaptation of the 1943 MGM film stars Wallace Beery, Fay Bainter, Keye Luke, and Noah Beery Sr.

Set in the Philippines in 1940, the drama follows veteran Marine Sergeant Major William Bailey as he hopes for active duty before retirement but is assigned to train civilian recruits. Family ties, military duty, and the looming Pacific conflict shape this story of a career Marine facing an unexpected assignment.
