    Episode 10: Lover of People

The Love Hertz Pod is back after yet another totally unannounced break; but this time we mean it when we say we’re here to stay (for good, probably).

In this episode, we sit down with Andrew: A father, public speaker, and self described lover of people. Andrew and Kat go way back. They first crossed paths at a religion-based facility for teens. Decades later, they reconnected so that Andrew could come talk with us about what love has looked like through every season of his life.

Andrew opens up about what love looked like growing up, how it changed through his time in the religious community, and how it’s shifted again through divorce, remarriage, and finally finding something that feels like real love. We also get to hear a bit more of Katrina’s backstory in this one too (which we know you’ve been waiting for).

There’s a LOT of good advice, a bit of bad advice, and of course, a brand new definition of love we haven’t heard before.j

  • Ep 09- Mike on Mic
    2025/09/18

    Ep. 9: Mike on Mic

This episode is as raw and honest as it gets. Mike begins by unpacking a childhood trauma and reflecting on how it shaped the way he’s moved through life and love. From the ways he learned to mask and hide parts of himself in order to fit in, to the impact it had on his relationships and sense of identity, Mike takes us through the complicated journey of growing up feeling different.

We talk about what it was like for him to receive a late-in-life diagnosis, how that opened the door to deeper self-understanding, and why revisiting old grief has been such an important part of his healing process. Our conversation flows into themes of friendship, family, and loss as we share memories of a dear friend we recently lost and the mark they left on all of our lives.

Mike describes this episode as feeling like a journal entry; a safe space to process, reflect, and speak truth out loud — and we close with his thoughtful advice for listeners.

Episode 08- Made of Glass: Part 2
We’re picking up right where we left off with Derek. This time, we dive deep into healing, presence and the quiet strength that comes from surviving something life-changing.
In this episode, we talk about inevitable change; conscious or forced. Kat talks about staying calm in chaos. Sjeli reflects on the way she was affected by being a caregiver in trauma. Derek shares what it’s meant to slow down, stay present and piece himself back together.
We explore the myth of linear healing, the weight of comparison, and the beauty of healing on your own terms. Derek speaks candidly about paying it forward, teaching first aid, celebrating small moments and why he chooses to focus on ‘being saved’ rather than ‘being hit’. There’s even the best advice from a little blue cat.
This one is full of tenderness, wisdom, and quiet resilience, and if you’ve been looking for proof that kindness is strength - this is it.

  • Episode 07- Made Of Glass: Part 1
    2025/07/17

Episode 07 : Made of Glass - Derek Virgo part 1

In this first part of our chat with Derek, we explore what it means to break and rebuild, with love. Derek shares his story; a traumatic accident that changed his life and the ripple affect it had on how he sees the world himself and the people closest to him.

We talk about the fragility and strength of the human experience: being cared for in a moment of crisis, finding love in the little things and learning the ways that our bodies express emotions

Sjeli opens up about acting in an emergency in the past and reflect on a time when love literally took her breath away.

From waking up in a nightmare to exactly the hero he needed, from marching to your own drum or being held and understood when you need it most, this episode is full of surprises, vulnerability, tenderness, and gratitude. Derek speaks beautifully about his wife, his daughter and the love he was shown that quite literally saved his life.

This part of the conversation closes on a little delulu confession that will have you turning on podcast notifications for part two.

From personal stories to hopes for where the podcast is headed, this one’s honest, unfiltered, and straight from the heart.

  • Episode 05 - A Bond That Cannot Be Broken
    2025/06/19

In this episode, we talk with Brittany: an end-of-life care worker who spends her days witnessing the deep, often unspoken love between people and their pets. With a background in funeral homes and her current work in a pet crematorium, Brittany offers a rare and moving perspective on how we grieve, how we love, and what our pets teach us about loss.

She opens up about the surprising differences between human and pet grief, shares how she knew her new husband was “the one,” and gets beautifully vulnerable about the emotional baggage we all carry…and what it means to be loved through it.

This is an episode about a type of love we sometimes overlook… but really, how can you overlook the love of a cat or dog?

If you’ve got a furry friend in your life, this is one you won’t want to miss.

Grab them a treat, get cozy, and tune in.

This week, we sit down with Jessica, artist and environmental consultant, to talk about her powerful journey toward self-love—one shaped by solo parenting, resilience, and the kind of clarity that only comes through challenge. She opens up about raising a child with special needs on her own, the lessons that cracked her open, and the strength she didn’t know she had.
Jessica also shares her “What If Principle,” a simple but profound mindset shift, and the best (and worst) advice she’s ever received.
This one’s honest, tender, and full of the kind of wisdom that sticks.
