  • 72. LIP LIVE from the streets and a pub quiz!
    2025/09/13

After many months away on a rumored creative hiatus, we are back postulating but this time from the streets of Copenhagen with 2 clip-on mics and plenty of background sound.

Season 3 gets resuscitated with a wide array of postulations. What should you do when you lose a book with 30 pages to go? Which POTUS would make the best quiz team partner? And what happens when two amateur podcasters attempt to record in a noisy pub while racking their brains for the names of every Radiohead studio album?

  • 71. Stephen Graham's One-Take Tate Takedown
    2025/04/02

A little insulted that people are amazed by Adolescence being shot in one take as we've been doing that THIS WHOLE TIME - it's Lost in Postulation, back once again.

We start with a pair of tricky mundane dilemmas: what are the ehtical implications of running to beat the queue at the supermarket checkout? And does your partner owe you an explanation after a long trip to the bathroom? These are just some of the important considerations we deal with to kick off epidode 71.

From there it's onto our in-depth discussion of the latest Netflix hype-show Adolescence. Spoilers aplenty here, so proceed at your own risk.

  • 70. Aretha Franklin Spelling Bee GOAT
    2025/02/18

Finally enough episodes old to run for the US presidency, it's Lost in Postulation episode 70.

We kick off this week's episode with a a review of the latest "have you seen it yet?" meme: "¡MONTOYA! ¡POR FAVOR!". Have Spain claimed the viral reality show clip crown, and what does it tell us about the state of reality TV today?

Then we get into another LIP Awards ceremony, this time picking the winners across a range of Niche Musical Phenomena. Which song includes the best use of spelling out words? Which has the best intentional stuttering? Which has the best use of nonsense? All this and more is tackled on this week's episode - let it never be said we don't tackle the real issues on this show.

  • 69. Back with a Bang and a CGOM
    2025/02/03

You asked, we listened! After a (relatively) brief hiatus the entire LIP cast is back for Season Three!

It's just like old times as we kick off with some mundane postulation around sleeping on the job. The science is clear on the benefits of afternoon naps, so when will corporate culture catch up? From there we take a quick detour into the debate absolutely nobody is having: is breakfast cereal technically a soup?

Then it's time for a glorious comeback from a fan-favourite segment: we've tried Interrailing, we've tried Casino-Heists, but nothing can prepare you for the Ultimate Celebrity Ski Trip. Who will the guys bring along and what role will each celeb get in the gang?

  • 68. Dinner Crashers and Niagara Thrashers
    2024/11/22

LIP 68 is packing heat with a few classic segments. First up, Neil helps Nicola kick out dinner part guests from his house (1:45). What is the optimal strategy for throwing people out so you can hit the hay? Does an overly-polite and passive British approach get you what you want? Or can it backfire somehow? What about making up lies about your next day? Or should you just stand up, shake everybody's hand and lock yourself in the bedroom?

Then, we want to know, have you ever seen the falls? Falling down on us? We take a journey to the US-Canada border where we hear from some One Star Google Reviewers about their experiences visiting Niagara Falls (10:15). The postulation drifts rapidly in many directions but leaves us asking: can a peace ever be brokered between the Canadian and American side of this great landmark? And is LIP best positioned to bring about that peace?

  • 66. The Solocast
    2024/11/04

For the first time ever in the history of LIP, we've recorded an episode with only one host! Nicola hosts the podcast and talks to himself for the better part of half an hour, while the world holds its breath in anticipation of Neil's return from his travels to the South of France.

In the core postulatory segment, he continues his lonely crusade to make airports a better place by introducing referees and a card system (5:10). Should you be punished from cropdusting your way through the terminal? What about letting your kids wreak havoc? And why are you still having lose change in your pocket when going through security?

After that healthy does of mundanity, he shifts his attention to his current pop culture consumption habits (21:30). Should we all give stand up comedy shows another chance? Why are there not that many good movies during awards season? And what's worth reading at the moment?

You can read a full version of Nicola's article on Airport Referees here: https://muddyum.net/why-cant-people-just-behave-normally-in-airports-5099bde69967

  • Bonus: Mind Your Language!
    2024/10/24

Join Neil and Nicola on this special bonus-episode all about language. Our deep-dive sees us pass through what the most difficult languages we have learned are, some of our favorite language related party tricks and what the studies say about the benefits of language learning. We then round things off with a quiz to test whether we can tell what language is being spoken totally out of context.
