Have you ever found yourself lying awake at night? You're staring at the ceiling, and then you're asking yourself, how did I get so tired? Not just physically tired, but tired deep in your soul, tired of trying to hold everything together, tired of carrying burdens that no one else can see. ### The Burden of ExpectationTired of believing that because you're a Christian, you're supposed to have it all together. You're tired of sitting in church on Sunday and not getting anything out of it while quietly falling apart by Monday morning. Maybe you've been running this race of faith for years. You remembered the days when you were always excited to be there and enjoyed every part of it. You've always prayed for others, like the word says. You've served faithfully. You've shown up when no one else knew what it cost you. You've encouraged people while secretly wondering who would encourage you? You trusted God for everything without even questioning it. And yet, somewhere along the journey, your joy slowly gave way to exhaustion. Your peace became anxiety. Your confidence became questions. Why, Lord, was the beginning of your prayer? And now, if you're honest, you're wondering, Lord, am I doing something wrong? Sister. Because we are family. We are connected by our love for Jesus Christ. So, sister, before we go any further, I want you to hear this with your heart. You are not failing. You are not forgotten. You are certainly not alone. To those of you who have listened before, welcome back. And to my new sisters joining me today. Welcome to Planted and Rooted in God's Word Podcast. A safe place where there is no judgment. And a place where you are loved unconditionally. I'm Barbara Wallace, and I want to thank you for inviting me into this moment of your day. Now, whether you're listening while driving to work, well, I'm in your passenger seat. And if you're folding laundry, I'm lending a hand right beside you. Or you are walking through your neighborhood, we are walking together. Or maybe you're sitting alone with tears that no one else knows about. Not to worry, I will be the one that is praying for you to be comforted. I am honored to spend this time with you because this podcast isn't just another place to hear a Bible lesson. It's a place to breathe, a place to exhale, a place where women can come exactly as they are. No mask, no pretending, no pressure to have all the answers, no fear of being judged, just grace, just biblical truth, just honest conversations, and your faithful sister. Who wants to remind you that God hasn't stopped walking with you? My prayer is that every time that you press play, that you'll feel like you're sitting across the table from one another with a warm cup of coffee in our hands, opening up God's word together. And not because I've figured everything out, but because I know the one who has all the answers. And if you've been carrying invisible burdens for a long time, you don't have to carry them by yourself anymore. We'll walk through them together, one conversation, one scripture, one prayer at a time, one step of faith. So whatever you are right now, wherever you are, take a slow, deep breath. Let your shoulders relax. Quiet the noise around you for just a little while. And let's invite the Holy Spirit into this moment. Because I don't believe you're listening by accident. I believe God knew you would be here today. And I also believe He has something He wants to say directly to your weary heart. ### Running the Race of FaithSo let's ask that question that many Christians are afraid to say out loud. Lord, I'm tired. How do I keep running this race when I feel like I have nothing left? Well, let's talk about it. And before I go any further, let me pray. Dear precious Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come before you humble and I ask that you meet us at our needs right now. That my sister on the other end finds peace in you and joy that she's searching for in your words. In Jesus' name, amen. So I'm going to be using Hebrews 12:1-3 as my scripture for today. And I will read that to you. Wherefore, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witness, let us lay aside every weight and a sin which doth so easily beset us. Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. So that is my foundation scripture that I want us to use, and you can reflect on that, and you can read that later on, and you can use it from time to time. I thought about a race. And it caused me to think about a time when I was young. I used to like to run track and field. And every year in our community, we had this event that was free to boys and girls around ...
