In April of 2022, Mr. Mattern reached his highest weight of 600 pounds, this after a 100 pound weight gain between August 2021 and April 2022, the result of a 2021 Covid-Delta based infection which altered his immune
system. Since August of 2021, Mr. Mattern has only been outside of his home for 1 hour each night, in his 600 gallon, 8 person hot tub. In April of 2021, after a great deal of reflection, Mr. Mattern identified the need for the implementation of new ideas within the hospital based bariatric patient care system.
