In today’s episode we’re going to talk about God, our Way Maker. So let’s settle in with Him to receive the Word He has for us today.

God is a Way Maker. Many times when we want something, we can’t see this. It can often feels like He’s standing in our way. But I have learned many times over the almost 15 years I’ve been walking with Him, that if He says no or stand in my way, it’s for my good or for the good of someone around me.

Have you heard the song, Graves into Gardens? I love the lyrics that state, “He turns seas into highways. He turns dry bones into armies. He turns graves into gardens. He’s the only one who can.” He makes a way where there is no way. In our human eyes we can’t see His purpose playing out, but we can trust in His steadfast love for us.

In episode 5 we talked about how you can picture yourself putting on your helmet to guard your thoughts, today we’re going to look at the Full Armor of God that is found in Ephesians 6.

In the book of Ephesians, Paul is talking to the believers in Ephesus about how to live a Godly life and resist falling back into their old lives.

In verse 6:10 we see Paul tell the believers to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might, not our might. He follows that in verse 11, saying we can stay strong in the Lord and resist the schemes of the Devil by putting on the whole armor of God. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

This is describing spiritual warfare, which is one of the main things that the Light Bearers Series is all about.

On today’s episode, we’re going to talk about being weary and heavy burdened and then we’ll practice releasing our burdens to the only one who can carry them, Jesus.

In this episode we’re going to talk about distractions. There are so many different distractions in our lives in 2025. The biggest one is social media. “Duh, duh, duh!” Back when I used to follow social media, I would fall into a black hole of time and come out two hours later grumpy and wondering what happened to the two hours. I post book updates on Instagram and FB so that people who use those outlets can find me, but I just can’t follow it anymore. I’m still torn about this, because I don’t want my readers to fall into the black hole of time on social media either.

Before you stop the podcast thinking I've lost my mind or that I’m way off base here, check your phone. Go to “Settings”, then “Screen Time” and just look around in there for a bit. What’s the daily average time you spend on your phone? I know it can’t all be due to me since these podcasts are tens minutes or less. You can also check how much time you spend on each social media app and even more how many times you unlock your phone a day. The number always shocks me. It’s a bad habit we’ve gotten into for comfort.

On today’s episode, we are finishing up our last episode on Knowing God’s Voice with learning how to have a conversation with Him. How did your time in the Word go this last week? Did you have a verse or a passage to keep with you throughout the week? Do you feel a little closer to Him? Being in the Bible every day is not only possible it’s necessary for life and Godliness.

We’re going to continue being in the Word every day, listening to God in the quiet, and today we are going to add having a conversation with Him. We have started touching on this already, with two simple questions we asked about the scripture we were reading this last week. But I want to dive a little deeper so that we get more and more comfortable listening to and discerning His voice.
