  • Stop Waiting for a Seat at the Table
    2026/03/16

    Send a text

There’s a moment every creative entrepreneur faces.

You look around the room — or the industry — and it feels like everyone else is more experienced, more successful, more qualified. Like there’s a table somewhere where all the “real professionals” sit… and you’re still waiting for someone to invite you.

    But here’s the truth:

No one is sending the invitation.

In this episode of Life Unfolded, I’m sharing a lesson that hit me while getting ready to attend a community business event — and it’s something every musician, artist, photographer, filmmaker, and creative entrepreneur needs to hear.

You can’t build a business hiding behind your phone, your laptop, your camera, your guitar, or your canvas.

At some point, you have to step out from behind the work, walk into the room, and pull up a chair.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why creatives often feel like outsiders in business spaces

    • The intimidation of walking into rooms where you think you don’t belong

    • Why community involvement matters more than you think

    • And the mindset shift that helps you stop waiting for permission

Because the people at the table?

They all started exactly where you are.

    You don’t need an invitation.

    Just pull up a chair.

  • The Power of One More Try
    2026/03/10

    Send a text

Not every dream unfolds according to plan.

In this episode of Life Unfolded, Melody shares a story from her time living in the Los Angeles music scene. Her band had a show booked in Fresno. Band members had already bought plane tickets to fly in. Everything was set… until the booking company suddenly canceled the gig.

What could have been a failed weekend turned into a lesson in grit, resourcefulness, and refusing to quit.

Instead of accepting defeat, Melody started calling venues until she found a new place willing to let the band play — proving that sometimes the difference between failure and momentum is simply the willingness to keep trying.

This episode explores the idea that life rarely unfolds in straight lines. Plans fall apart. Opportunities disappear. But when you're willing to problem-solve instead of giving up, new paths open that you never expected.

Sometimes all it takes to keep the story moving… is one more phone call.

Entrepreneurs are told to dream big, plan ahead, and build five-year visions.

But what happens when your nervous system is stuck in survival mode?

In this episode, I share how emotional instability in a relationship impacted my ability to set goals, grow my business, and even imagine a future. We talk about people-pleasing, shrinking ambition, repeated attempts to leave unhealthy dynamics, and why safety is the foundation of expansion.

If you’ve been wondering why your drive feels different lately… this episode may give you language for what’s really happening.

    Growth requires imagination.

    And imagination requires safety.

  • Chaos, Creativity, and Courage to Show Up Anyway
    2025/11/12

    Send us a text

What happens when you’re asked to livestream the largest Veterans Day Parade west of the Mississippi—with just one day’s notice? In this episode, Melody shares the behind-the-scenes chaos and creativity that went into pulling it off: from troubleshooting drone setups in a historic downtown building to laughing through every curveball that came her way (including the moment her microphones mysteriously “walked off” with the police).

But beneath the technical mishaps and adrenaline rush lies a message about courage and perseverance. Melody opens up about starting her business with only an iPhone and a laptop, learning to find creative workarounds, and why you don’t need perfect gear—or perfect timing—to create something meaningful.

This episode is part heartfelt pep talk, part hilarious production diary, and a reminder that success isn’t about never failing—it’s about showing up, figuring it out as you go, and being brave enough to press “Go Live” anyway.

  • Rethinking Online Interactions for True Support
    2024/09/16

    Send a text

Have you ever found yourself spiraling into an emotional reaction because of a social media post? I certainly have, and it’s a wild ride. In this episode of Life Unfolded, we explore the emotional turbulence that comes with our online interactions. Triggered by a seemingly innocuous quote on Facebook, I dive into a reflection on the dangers of online validation, how easily we can project our personal experiences onto others' posts, and the risk of enabling harmful behavior. Through my personal story, I underscore the importance of taking a moment to breathe and think critically before engaging in online debates.

We further discuss how social media inflates our sense of self-importance and provides a misleading sense of community and agreement. By analyzing my own reactions and the broader implications of these digital interactions, I encourage listeners to seek genuine connections and deeper understanding over surface-level validation. If you've ever felt the sting of misunderstanding in an online space or struggled with the false sense of support that social media can create, this episode will resonate with you. Let's navigate this digital minefield together and learn how to foster true connection and empathy in our online worlds.
