  • Monster Series | Witches & Warlocks
    2025/10/27

Step into the shadows as we explore the mysterious world of witches and warlocks. From ancient healers and secret grimoires to the Salem Witch Trials, modern Wicca, and dark conspiracy theories, this episode uncovers the history, legends, and lingering power of witchcraft.

From the earliest days of human civilization, people have believed in individuals with special powers. In ancient Babylon, Egypt, and Greece, you had healers, shamans, and spiritual leaders who used herbs, rituals, and astronomy to guide their people. Over time, many of these practices would be branded as dangerous, and those who held this knowledge became known as witches.
The word warlock is a little different. In Old English, it meant “oath breaker.” That’s right—not a sorcerer at first, but someone who betrayed trust. Over centuries, the word attached itself to men accused of practicing magic. Unlike “witch,” which became mostly tied to women, “warlock” carried an added sting—a traitor to the faith, a dark sorcerer.
History shows us how dangerous it could be to be labeled either one. The witch trials of Europe and America claimed tens of thousands of lives. Salem in 1692 may be the most famous, but across Europe, entire towns lived in fear. Anyone who stood out—an old widow, a midwife, or even just someone who didn’t fit in—risked being accused of serving the devil.
Behind all this fear lurked the mystery of occult knowledge. Ancient grimoires like The Key of Solomon or the notorious Malleus Maleficarum promised to teach spells, summon spirits, or expose witches. Secret societies, alchemists, and mystics all played their part in weaving a tapestry of legend that still fascinates us today.Website - http://www.bottomofthat.com

  • Monster Series | Vampires
    2025/10/20

“Throughout history, every culture has whispered tales of beings that feed on the living. From the blood-drinking Lilitu of Mesopotamia, to the Strigoi of Eastern Europe, to the Lamia of ancient Greece—these creatures have haunted our imagination for centuries. But are vampires nothing more than myth… or is there something darker at work?
In the 18th century, Europe was gripped by real-life vampire panics. Villagers exhumed bodies, staking corpses that looked too well-preserved, convinced the dead were rising to drink the blood of the living. Even in America, the legend found its way into the New England Vampire Panic, with the infamous case of Mercy Brown.
Vampires have always been symbols. They represent disease, fear of death, forbidden desire—and, some would argue, the elite who feed on the masses. Garlic, crosses, sunlight—our defenses against the predator in the dark.Website - http://www.bottomofthat.com

  • Monster Series | Mummies: Are They Really Dead?
    2025/10/13

In ancient Egypt, mummification was a sacred art. The goal? To preserve the body for the afterlife, ensuring the soul could journey safely beyond. The process was meticulous: first, the organs were removed… except for the heart, considered the seat of the soul. The body was dehydrated with natron, wrapped carefully in linen, and placed in a sarcophagus adorned with symbols and spells. Pharaohs received elaborate rituals… commoners, simpler burials. But even in simplicity, the intent remained the same: defy death, at least for a time.
