En 1973, après une sortie à l’épicerie, Amy Burridge, 11 ans et Becky Thomson, 18 ans deux demi-sœurs vivant à Wyoming, ont été enlevées par deux hommes qui avaient saboté leur voiture pour les piéger. Les deux jeunes filles ont ensuite été agressées puis jetées du pont de Fremont Canyon, à plus de 30 mètres de hauteur.
